Cory Eggs! How Long Do I Leave Them?

Great news!!!
Try not to squish them with the moss ball while cleaning because they really love hiding on the sides, under it or even rest on top :)
When I was cleaning once, I took the moss ball out, then I counted the corys and I was short one. Found it dried on the moss ball which I had placed outside the water. It must have been on top of it

But they do use it as a cover so I kept using it, plus it collects tiny microfauna they feed on.

This is great news! Will try to catch that video when it's up and running! Congrats! :)

I couldn't believe how tiny corys are when born, when I saw one for the first time :)
They are so cute!!!

Day 5 update:

Everything is still looking great! Tried to get a vid but didn't have any good progress with that, so hopefully tomorrow will be more eventful. It's very surprising how much they have grown in just a day lol.  I noticed that some didn't appear to have the big "egg heads" anymore, so I thought I would feed them. I have hikari first bites, so i added quite a bit and actually saw one eating, it was pretty awesome .

How long after the food has settled should I do a wc? I don't want to take the food out too soon, but I want to make sure that they have time to stumble upon it too. I think I'll take the bubbler out for feeding time as well, I noticed it kept kicking the food back up.

How many feedings a day, 3???

Still no official count, I'm too scared to move the moss ball, it's attacked to a rock so I'm scared I'll squish them   ..... while poking around, I did see about 6 of them at a time, so I'm assuming there is more than that.. :yahoo:

Drop a pinch on the bottom with your fingers in the water, enough so you can see a bit of it on the sand, several times a day, 3 would be fine I'd think. If the container is small, the fry will go for it straight. I normally used to put it just on one spot, like a tiny pinky pile and the corys learn the corner where the food goes. In a little container that's handy to do without worrying that they won't find the food.
First bites isn't the best choice of the powedered food though so careful with it. I think Tetra baby is way better when it comes to water quality.
I'd leave the food in there till the next day, or as soon as you see it "fluff" itself on top of the sand. I think you'd know what I am talking about tomorrow. That's when it's in "rotting mood".  Until then it should not be dangerous to the fish, it will be food.
The water changes and cleaning should be done prior to feeding, so you replenish the old rotting food with new in practice.
I found a syringe or similar tool works well in sucking up the brown fluffy left overs without stressing the corys or moving stuff around.
It's hard to explain what to do, but it's different for everyone and it's trial and error.

Thanks snazy.  The mini tank is pretty small, so they'll def. be able to find the food. I was just worried about leaving it in there for so long, but I think I'm getting a little over-crazy :D   So far, I've had great success using my turkey baster. I haven't sucked any cories up, but I like the fact that the tube is perfectly clear so I could see if I had sucked up a baby.

Here's a little vid I took yesterday :)

Day 6 update:
Today I moved the mossball to the middle of the mini tank and saw quite A LOT of movement lol. Before they all fled to the mossball for cover, I counted 8.  Some are getting a bit bigger, and hanging around outside of the moss.  Still a big difference in the size of some of the fry, could it be the difference of the time in between clutches?  Pretty crazy :)

They look like UFOs

I am not sure why the difference in size, it's possible if they hatched at different times and you may get the occassional runt. Just make sure they do have enough food just in case some are eating and other's don't get enough but on the careful side not to cause any issues with the water quality. If you flush with tank water often enough and remove left overs there shouldn't be a problem. It's different for every setup so when in doubt, clean it but in my setup once I disassembled the box the sand was always filthy with miniature particles in between that had settled and I wasn't able to remove but it never caused a problem. Same as in a tank, the danger is disturbing it and then not removing it via a water change.

SO. I was trying to get an accurate head count yesterday, and I had counted 8, then lifted up the mossball a bit and saw a whole tiny colony of them haha... So I'm assuming I have atleast 20.  We'll see though. It could have just looked that way bc of the mad rush to wiggle away.....  Feels pretty promising that this many have made it this far though

That's terrific! I still don't have a head count on mine either. It would be possible if they were all moving at once, but on a play sand bottom, if they rest, they disappear! All I know is it's more than a dozen.

OKay, so today (day 9) woke up to cory eggs on the mini tank, oh the irony in that one :) Good gracious........
