Cory Eggs! How Long Do I Leave Them?

Bummer about the video, it's wicked blurry. My son thinks he's a photographer, but tends to hold the lense so it can't open up all the way and zoom out, so now it has trouble focusing and acts up all the time.  I do have another vid of big mama laying eggs that I'll post though :)

Interesting video.   I like watching different species doing the same things... my panda cories only hold one egg at a time in their fins, whereas these bronze cories appear to hold half a dozen or so...  Very interesting.

Nice dog btw. ;)

My bronze have held up to two dozen at once. That egg-laying frenzy I experience a couple of weeks ago showed it! Nice vid, greenmumma!

Thanks. This was actually the smaller of my mama cories, the bigger one tens to hold much larger clutches in her fins, about 2 dozen as well.  uploading the best vid so far of the fry :D

During the wc before bed, one of the baby cories was set free into the tank by accident

I was even able to suck him back into the baster, but he was strong enough to swim against the suction and swam off into the vallis jungle.  I'm hoping that in a couple weeks I see a little cory come out, but the chances aren't so great. down to 17 :/

It was kind of funny to see such a little thing swimming in my big tank though

You might be surprised! If some can survive from day one in the big tank ...

It is most definitely possible for it to survive, especially if there is a spot or two of good vegetation for it to hide in.  I had one survive in a mostly aggressive tank for about 2+ months before I happened to see it.  Surprised me highly because I would have never expected any to survive in that tank with all the predator fish plus the parents.

If it went into heavy vegetation, you'll probably see him again.  Don't write him off so quickly.  I've never saved a single cory fry and have had 9 grow up to adulthood in my tank - on their own!

I think he has a great chance in my tank, there's so many nooks and crannies for him to hide in.  I just worry bc the vallis jungle is also where the ghost shrimp live :/  but he looked pretty strong and healthy, and determined i'll say :)  It would be pretty great to see a baby come swimming out one morning...

You've given him a head start with the food, so he's got a way better chance than a newborn and he may get lucky. Cory fry are at least long enough to swallow.
Having said that, with all weekly spawning and all, no cory fry has ever survivied in my tank, not yet.

:/ the day before yesterday I noticed that a couple of the 2nd batch had died and didn't really think anything of it, but then yesterday I found one of the first batch... then every wc i found more and more of the 2nd batch and also noticed my loaches were flashing, so I tested my water. 0.25 nitrite and .25 ammonia!!!!! So I did a huge wc at 10:00 last night lol. Pretty beyond frustrated. I'm thinking it's bc my filter is getting clogged up again, so the water can't reach all of the bacteria. I have a brand spanking new external filter in the mail though, so hopefully the cories can hold out until it gets here, I'll just keep doing water tests and stay on top of wc's until then..........

Sorry... water changes are the order of the day now!
