Cory Eggs! How Long Do I Leave Them?

This Old Spouse said:
I think you have a definite advantage that so many were laid on leaves! I think I might have up to a couple dozen that hatched and are growing at alarming rates. I give a big hats off to my RCS who have been the perfect nursemaids!

Good luck!

Hmm, I've been thinking about setting up my 10 gallon for an awesome shrimp tank, and now I'm thinking it could double as a cory nursery..... hmmmmmmmm

Day 2:
The eggs are looking good this morning :)  One had completely gone white so i plucked it outta there. I did notice quite a few that had white spots on them, wasn't sure if this meant they were bad, so I left them for now.  Hopefully by tonight the eggs will have darkened up a bit and I'll know for sure that we're headed in the right direction!

He climbed out after 30 seconds lol. Apparently he wasn't fond of the babysitter gig hehe.

I have RCS too but they're still fairly new so I only catch glimpses of them from time to time. My ghost shrimp are a little braver though and they're easy to spot hanging around in my vallis :D

Ghost shrimp aren't as safe with fry.
Oh no!!! I noticed that he either climbed out or I put two in there bc there's still one in the mini tank. I'll scoop him out to be safe...

I would remove him for sure. Ghost shrimp can even pray on other smaller shrimp and fry so not safe at all.

He's outta there :)  Hopefully he was too busy trying to escape to eat any eggs :/

Double check the water too, if the shrimp was trying to escape he wasn't happy about the conditions inside so there's a possibility there's traces of ammonia or something else.

thanks Snazy! Water stats looked good, maybe a slight bit of ammonia, but barely anything. I did a wc in the mini tank again just to be safe. I've been swapping out the water about 4-5 times a day, so hopefully that will be good enough.

Day 3:
Eggs look good today, they've darkened up a good deal, I think C. Aeneus eggs aren't nearly as dark as some of the other cory eggs I've seen in pics and vids, I would say they just get to a dark yellow or tan color. I did notice a couple white eggs, but didn't want to use the tweezers bc they were touching other eggs. Absolutely no fungus anywhere in the mini tank to be seen though, which is great :)  Have the airstone to thank for that Im sure. No hatching yet, it's still early in the day though, I would say either later tonight or tomorrow morning!

Day 4:

Swimming wigglers!!! Noticed this that the only eggs that were left on the leaves were bad eggs... and after further inspection after turning on the lights, we have swimming wigglers for sure :yahoo:  There's no way to tell how many, but at least 5 lol. They're all hiding around the moss ball, thank you Snazy for that one.  It's funny the size difference between some of them. Some are so small that they look like a tiny bubble darting around, then I have atleast one that looks like a mammoth compared to the others

I've uploaded a vid to youtube but the whole site is being a pain right now, I'll try to post it again later tonight. It's not the best vid with them being so small and hiding, but at a couple points you can see them dart across the screen :D
