Hello, could the smell be caused by bubbles trapped in the sand and the gas from the bubbles poisoning the fish. I remember reading somewhere that stuff can rot in the sand and produce sulphur (which would smell like bad eggs). Regular vacuuming helps prevent it. May be worth looking into, hope it helps.

I have sand in my tank and fish poo tends to gravitate to the tank furniture such that if I lift a piece of wood a little then drop it down, small piles of fish poo get forced out. When did you last vacuum under your tank furniture, could that be the source of the funny smell? I agree with the general concensus in that your first video showed way too small a flow of water.

One of the replies said you have a 1000lph hour filter in a 300 litre tank, if that is true you probably don't have enough flow either for surface agitation or water flow through the filter. 1000 lph is the flow rate given for the pump, once you start adding filter material the flow rate drops off to perhaps 700 or even 500 litres per hour.

If you want to get rid of the white stuff on the surface get yourself a cleaning cloth, say one of those thin Vileda General Purpose jobbies. Wash it out first then drop it on top of the water, fully extended. Pinch it in the middle and pull it out of the water quickly and thence to a bowl. Squeeze it out and repeat as often as necessary until the white stuff has gone; worked for me when I had a dust problem.

Alright, so it's here.

My powerhead arrived, and I just set it up. This is what is looks like:

I had to play around a lots, and I found it to be best in this position, though I may be wrong. What position do you think it's best
to place the powerhead in?

The fish look happy, except the angel, he is a bit shy... :)

Thanks!

About where you have it. I like mine just slightly higher than that but it really does depend on the tank and what's in it. I tend to play with mine for a few weeks before finding the sweet spot.

Excellent! The thing I noticed as well is that it isn't blowing your sand around so that's great too.
