Coronavirus...post your thoughts here...

My thoughts now are that since it's become endemic, that we haven't been able to achieve 100% immunity from vaccines, and that vaccinated can still become vectors to the disease that we simply just have to accept a new risk that comes with social gatherings and modify our behaviour.

Government legalisation is nonsensical, allowing thousands of vaccinated and unvaccinated into crowded malls and keeping foodcourts open, while only allowing vaccinated into movie theatres that have reduced seating to force social distancing. I don't need a vaccine passport to go to an enclosed escape room or play laser tag with strangers, but I need one to sit in a private booth at a restaurant. Almost 90% of all eligible people in my province have received one dose and almost 85% are fully vaccinated, yet when vaccination numbers were much lower they opened everything up without vaccine passports.

This is just my venting some frustrations, don't mind me.

They are think the virus is a hoax, they just think that the vaccine is fake and doesn’t work for anything.

In all honesty from a human point of view I can totally understand any hesitation to get the vaccine. From a logical point of view I see it differently. I am all for the vaccine, but don’t think it should be something that is forced upon people. I DO however think that if someone is going to choose not to get vaccinated, they need to take some responsibility and continue to wear a mask in public situations within reason.

Completely agree with this.

Some of the vaccines are good and some are not good. The Chinese one is not that good and people are getting sick from the virus a couple of months after being fully vaccinated. Other vaccines that have been approved in the US, UK and Australia (eg: Pfizer, Astra Zeneca) are good and do prevent people developing serious health issues if they contract the virus.

Most young healthy people won't have a problem if they catch the virus, but older people and people with a weakened immune system, as well as African Americans, Australian Aboriginals, New Zealand Maoris and I think the North American Eskimos are all at a much higher risk of dying if they catch the virus compared to healthy white people. If these people are vaccinated, they are less likely to catch the virus, and have fewer if any symptoms, and are less likely to end up in hospital on a ventilator.

If any of your family have underlying health issues like diabetes (type 1 or 2), heart problems, lung problems, cancer, or anything that reduces their overall health, they should get vaccinated so there is significantly less chance of them dying, should they catch the virus.

If you have had two astra zenneca jabs, still got the virus but survived with just a bad cough, is there any point in taking the booster?

I have had two Astra Zeneca...5 weeks apart in April/May.

Awaiting the booster jab

Awaiting the once in a blue moon pneumonia jab....3 years waiting for that one and counting

Awaiting this years flu jab....might get it by Christmas (unsure which year that will be)

MY GP surgery is completely useless....took forever to get an appointment before the dreaded lurgy arrived (housebound so need home visits)...now we have had the dreaded lurgy and its finally backing off ever so slowly, the GP's are going on strike cos they do not want to work more than 3 days a week and absolutely no face to face appointments or home visits

The other GP surgeries in the neighbourhood are in exactly the same situation

So I have given up. I put in my prescription requests online once a month (medication not been checked for over three years despite requests by me). Stuff them, had enough of it. No family to care or worry about so one day the neighbours will find flies at the windows and a squiffy pong wafting out the flat.

What will be, will be....past caring quite frankly.

I've had covid and let me tell you it's not pretty! I was bed bound for 4 days, my whole body was in pain, even my scalp stung when I touched it. My eyeballs felt bruised and ached in my head, I had sickness and diarrhea, could barely eat with a constant migraine. I've been left with visual disturbance, weakness and chronic fatigue which is slowly improving.

Correct me if I'm wrong, concerning the vaccine...I'm getting confused about people talking about immunity....as far as I'm aware, the vaccines don't provide immunity? I thought they were just supposed to help with the symptoms? As in stop you getting so poorly? They don't stop you being carriers of the virus either so you could still pass it on? 🤷‍♀️ I'm confused

That’s my understanding too, the vaccine lessens the symptoms and the probability of the virus killing you.

So surely then....refusing the vaccine is a personal choice regarding your own health and nothing to do with putting others at risk? 🤔

In certain cases yes it is a personal choice but when working in the care sector, looking after or working within a care home or hospital or doctor/dentists, then the care of the patients should be a priority...hence why so many countries are making the jab mandatory for those professions where the risks of transmission even after vaccination could be the most damaging to others

The booster shot is more to protect you from the new strains that are out. The main strain is delta and it has a sub-strain that is almost identical to delta. The booster shot covers the delta strain and its sub shoots, and provides a bit more protection against the original strain/s.

Some people do develop an immunity to the virus after they have been vaccinated. However, many people don't become truly immune to the virus. But they are much less likely to catch the virus, or spread it if they do catch it. And they will have fewer symptoms (if any) and are significantly less likely to end up in hospital.

The double dose of vaccine will significantly reduce the risk of you catching the virus, or getting really sick and ending up in hospital or dying.

The covid vaccines don't contain the actual virus so they can't provide immunity from my understanding...they just teach the body how to recognise the virus and fight it....don't mistake me, I'm not an antivaxxer, I just think there's many who have been misled regarding the vaccines and what they are and how they work.

It would make sense for the medical and care professions to be vaccinated, if they're all ill there would be no one to look after the vulnerable...but they could still pass the virus on to those they're caring for whether they've been vaccinated or not

I can agree with that on some things. But it wouldnt have to be mandated if people were logical.
