Coronavirus...post your thoughts here...

The USA and most places around the world won't be able to stop this from spreading. Too many people have the virus and the only way to stop it spreading is a complete lock down for at least a month. And nobody in the US wants to do that, not even the sick president, so you lot are screwed.

-----------------
In Australia. . .
Are restrictions being put back in place?
In Victoria and New South Wales (NSW), yes. In other parts of the country no.

Is there a lockdown?
In Victoria and NSW there is but the rest of the country has partial restrictions but no lock down. This is due to low or no cases.

Are most people wearing masks in public?
In Victoria it is compulsory to wear masks in public, the rest of the country doesn't have to.

Are restaurants open?
Not in Victoria and some place in NSW are closed but everywhere else it's open for business.

Are there fines for noncompliance?
Yep, big fines and even prison time for people breaching the laws.
The U.S. can't shut down for a month, if we do the economy will crash and that won't be to good since the government is already deep in debt. Their giving out all this "free" money which we all know is not free and the children of the people getting the money including me are going to have to pay a hefty price for all the "free" government handouts in the future.

I know there's some people saying that they don't mind trying to help establish if a vaccine can work but it's wouldn't want to do it, did people on here hear about the guy who's had a severe reaction a few years back and his gf said he ended up looking like the elephant man..

The whole glove thing I never understood. If they are going to work you would have to change them everytime you touch something. I know some people get that concept, but I see people eating with gloves on thinking it will keep them from getting the virus, then they come out of the store after touching everything and touch their car handles and steering wheels before taking their gloves off. Gloves are basically just removable skin and don't kill germs.
People touch car keys, handbags, phones and everything else without disinfecting first. Whereas I hang my car key off my finger while shopping and when I get back to the car, I unlock it and open the door, disinfect my hands with the disinfectant towel and liquid in my cup holder. Then pop the boot and put the shopping in. Disinfect hands, key and door handle. Then spray myself down with disinfectant and hop in the car. Get home and empty the car, disinfect the seat, seat belt and anything else. Then gas myself in disinfectant and chuck clothes in wash and spend 2 hours under the shower scrubbing myself clean. And I'm nuts but that's what it takes to stay safe. That and screaming at people to stay the fudge (use a swear word in reality) away from me and social distance or I will go fuplie nuts on everyone.

Had some stupid woman and her kid walk over to me the last time I was at the shops. The kid parked the trolley in front of me and stopped and the woman walked up next to me and looked in the freezer where I was. I did my nut and they both ignored me so I moved. A few minutes later they saw me walking down an isle and they turned and walked away from me. They obviously got the idea not to get to close to the crazy old man swearing at everyone in the shopping centre. Stupid people coughing and sneezing at a shop during a pandemic. More stupid people bringing their snotty nosed kids to the shops who proceed to touch and handle all the stock before putting it back on the shelf.

But people really are stupid and most don't give a flying fish cake about this virus. It's a shame it doesn't kill off the stupid people and leave the smart ones alive. If it did, 90% of the people in my town would die from it.

Pay em £1,000,000 tax free up front and a govt service pension for life and they’ll get the volunteers, throw in a VC and a knighthood for services rendered. Seriously. It’d be cheap compared to how things are going.

Amen to that brother.

On that score nowhere can shut down for a month. The US is no different to anywhere else.

Do they still require you to ware mask where you live? I don't know of a single place where I live that requires a mask, the whole covid hype wore of a while ago. I think everyone is kind of sick of living in fear and would rather just live life.

I'm quite certain nobody is getting this virus from packaging and have seen in the news several times there is no evidence for this and it MUST be true or every postman would have caught it and passed it onto every single household and business.

I concur you are nuts my friend, that lot is clearly overkill. Just wear disposable gloves.

Well I don't know if it would be considered political or not and I know for some reason people on hear apparantly can't handle political talk, but yesterday I saw on the new the UK government has been spending stupid amounts of money on consultants, one of which the BCG who are each being paid £7000 a day (9045 US dollars/12,763 AUs dollar). That is a fuplie shambles and the government should be fuplie ashamed of themselves. Why didn't they just leave tracking apps to the professionals such as the big tech companies and let them deal with it as they only got big because they know what they are fuplie doing.

I think might apply for a job at BCG...

Does “political” on here include facts?
If it does then delete this: Cummings family members have shares in the company behind the T&T app that the Brit govt are attempting to tell people is nhs owned and developed. The Brit govt turned down the free T&T app developed by the eu which the nhs got their wrists slapped for saying was better.

Politics of the type "my party is better than yours and all members of your party are idiots" (however they may be phrased) are not allowed as they lead to very overheated arguments.
Statement of fact with no party political bias is OK.

We never had to wear masks in WA, but we didn't get many cases. Victoria (on the opposite side of the country) had to wear masks for the last few months and will probably have to continue for a bit longer due to the virus spreading there.

Over here the postal service made their workers wear gloves and masks when working to try and minimise their workers getting sick. They also held mail for a week before processing it, so it took longer to be delivered but they wanted to reduce the risk to their workers.

Couriers and postal deliveries were done again with gloves but instead of the person receiving the item, signing for it, we just answer the door and say who we are, then the posty/ courier signs on our behalf. This minimises cootie transmission.

Some of the delivery companies here ask you to stand back, put your parcel just inside your door then take a photo of it inside your home as proof of delivery.

Tescos don't let us take the delivery crates into the house even, they used to take them into the kitchen for us.
Asda do let me lift the crates in, they also used to come into the kitchen, but have stopped supplying paperwork.

All my courier drivers, bar Amazon they've started direct deliveries lately, know me so just a rap on the door and off they go.

Tesco does here the last time I checked, mind you we get a lot of food as house has 4-5 adults. 1 left recently. My grandmother who has gone back to spain, I am surprised she did that seeing as it was worse than the UK at the time.
