Coronavirus...post your thoughts here...

The policy just doesn't make sense, close all pubs but restraurants can stay opened?
Poor Liverpool having to be the first guinea pig.
Lookin at the data provided by the government it's clear that mortality rate is not even high. The reaction is severely disporpotionate.

The current mortality rates reflect where we are in the wave. It takes a few weeks to spread to the vulnerable, a couple more weeks for the sick to get really sick and then the death rates will rise. By that point there is no going back. If anything we should be putting on the brakes harder in my opinion.

Last time I did any work for them was in 2015 and I vowed never again. Staggeringly at the time the department I was with was paying exhorbitant sums of money to Microsoft to continue supporting them on Windows XP. For those less familiar with IT windows XP retired with dignity in 2009 and was officially cremated and buried in April 2014.
NHS? If not, NHS also forked out (£150m) for bespoke security updates to stay on XP!

No country have actually put aside their differences though. On contratry, countries are now free to impose any measures they seem fit.
If your livelehood depends on, for example, running a pub (or bar for the Americans ;)) how would you feel if the government forces you to shut for months?
Most businesses have been forced to close for this virus. The reason pubs and clubs are closed is because people get drunk and drunk people do stupid things like get too close to other people, pee in the street, and don't follow social distancing guidelines. People that are sober generally don't do these things.

Under normal circumstances, drunk people are a nuisance, but now during a viral pandemic, drunk people can spread the virus and contribute to the death of thousands. That is why governments are keeping pubs and clubs shut.

---------------------
This is a brand new virus that the human race has never been exposed to and it kills the old, weak and sick. Some people might not care about the old, weak and sick, but if you were at a high risk of dying from this virus, you would care.

I am at a very high risk of dying if I catch covid19, as are a number of other people on this forum. I don't see why our lives should be put at risk because of younger healthier people (who will be old one day) wanting to go and get drunk with their mates on Friday and Saturday night.

If everyone did what was right, (stay at home, social distance, etc) for a month, this could have been over, or at least close to over by now. Instead there are people deliberately spreading it and various members of parliament saying it is nothing to worry about. Many of these people have excellent medical care and in my opinion, more money than brains, and complain about their human rights being violated. Quite frankly I think these people should go to hell. Other people's lives should not be put at risk because of various inconsiderate people who complain about their rights being violated.

Social distancing isn't going to make it go away. Well, I suppose it could if every single person completely isolated for a month and starved the virus of a host. All these measures are trying to do is prevent everyone from being sick at the same time and overwhelming the hospitals. I expect almost everyone will succumb to the virus at some point, hopefully they have the medicine to treat the worst affected people sooner than later.

Influenza is as contagious if not more contagious as Covid but we never see such an unprecedented lockdown, stripping all civil liberties.
There has to be a hidden agenda here.
Haha thats exactly what I said when the whole covid thing started.

Hypothetically, if there was a hidden agenda as the conspiracy theorists would like us to believe, what is it?
What would cause governments all around the world to co-operate with one another and make a plan to encourage people to isolate and social distance?

Remember, every government around the world is telling people to isolate and social distance. This includes countries like North Korea, China, Russia, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. Do you really believe these countries have conspired with the US, UK, Australia, Germany and everywhere else in the world?

These countries don't get along with each other so what would make them conspire with each other and concoct a viral pandemic?

Well I actually read the ts and Cs in ms software and it says it should not be used on fail safe systems such as life support. Like they need to tell us that lol

As much as we wish coronavirus would just disappear, it looks like the spread is rapidly increasing as of late. Italy, France, and the UK are again seeing high amounts of new cases. The US is seeing over 50,000 new cases per day with close to 1000 new deaths daily. The world overall is seeing well over 300,000 new cases per day with 6000 additional deaths per day.

And to make matters worse, flu season is just ahead.

So let's not let down our guard. Limit close contact with others and wear masks and gloves when out and about.

We're on a 4 week lockdown, schools for 2 weeks.
Takeaways only, off sales close at 8pm. 2 extra days grace given for wedding receptions though my next one was Tuesday so that's cancelled.

Well, this past wednesday we're almost back where we've started when the outbreak showed up. The goverment has taken more measures to fight the covid-19. Holland has got the most rapid contaminations of whole western-europe right now.

Here in the US cases are starting to increase quickly. Here's how things stand in US as of last Friday:
Tell us how the situation is in your city, state, or your country.

Are restrictions being put back in place.
Is there a lockdown?
Are most people wearing masks in public?
Are restaurants open?
Are there fines for noncompliance?

I find this site to be the best source for statistics about the coronavirus. You can view cases for today as well as the previous two days. The trend in the world is heading way up recently.

The USA and most places around the world won't be able to stop this from spreading. Too many people have the virus and the only way to stop it spreading is a complete lock down for at least a month. And nobody in the US wants to do that, not even the sick president, so you lot are screwed.

In Australia. . .
Are restrictions being put back in place?
In Victoria and New South Wales (NSW), yes. In other parts of the country no.

Is there a lockdown?
In Victoria and NSW there is but the rest of the country has partial restrictions but no lock down. This is due to low or no cases.

Are most people wearing masks in public?
In Victoria it is compulsory to wear masks in public, the rest of the country doesn't have to.

Are restaurants open?
Not in Victoria and some place in NSW are closed but everywhere else it's open for business.

Are there fines for noncompliance?
Yep, big fines and even prison time for people breaching the laws.

The whole glove thing I never understood. If they are going to work you would have to change them everytime you touch something. I know some people get that concept, but I see people eating with gloves on thinking it will keep them from getting the virus, then they come out of the store after touching everything and touch their car handles and steering wheels before taking their gloves off. Gloves are basically just removable skin and don't kill germs.
