No country have actually put aside their differences though. On contratry, countries are now free to impose any measures they seem fit.
If your livelehood depends on, for example, running a pub (or bar for the Americans
) how would you feel if the government forces you to shut for months?
Most businesses have been forced to close for this virus. The reason pubs and clubs are closed is because people get drunk and drunk people do stupid things like get too close to other people, pee in the street, and don't follow social distancing guidelines. People that are sober generally don't do these things.
Under normal circumstances, drunk people are a nuisance, but now during a viral pandemic, drunk people can spread the virus and contribute to the death of thousands. That is why governments are keeping pubs and clubs shut.
---------------------
This is a brand new virus that the human race has never been exposed to and it kills the old, weak and sick. Some people might not care about the old, weak and sick, but if you were at a high risk of dying from this virus, you would care.
I am at a very high risk of dying if I catch covid19, as are a number of other people on this forum. I don't see why our lives should be put at risk because of younger healthier people (who will be old one day) wanting to go and get drunk with their mates on Friday and Saturday night.
If everyone did what was right, (stay at home, social distance, etc) for a month, this could have been over, or at least close to over by now. Instead there are people deliberately spreading it and various members of parliament saying it is nothing to worry about. Many of these people have excellent medical care and in my opinion, more money than brains, and complain about their human rights being violated. Quite frankly I think these people should go to hell. Other people's lives should not be put at risk because of various inconsiderate people who complain about their rights being violated.
