Coronavirus...post your thoughts here...

Luckily for you you live in what is alongside Switzerland one of the two most civilised, sensible, mature countries on the planet.
The barbaric selfish turn a large % of this country have taken over the last few years astonishes me more each day. This has been handled badly from the off over here and sensible people could see it at the time. We are now heading for the seasonal weather C19 is supposed to thrive in. Fingers crossed. I’ve a relative working on one of the C19 vacc programmes (Oxford iirc) he’s optimistic apparently.
Im asthmatic. I’ve not worked for over 200 days. I honestly now think it could be a year before I work again. Getting a train then a tube into London five days a week would be like playing Russian
Roulette........youre gonna be stuck with me for a while yet. I hope.
Well you might get some rest out of this article

The Doctors in the surgery I clean agree, and the flu jab isn't 100%. otherwise it would of been eradicated.
Well the flu jab only contains the most common strains going around that particular winter as I understand it. The Rona has many strains now.

@Colin_T do you have good rental laws there? Here if you rent & property is sold during your lease then the buyer must take you on as a tenant and retain your lease. The longer you live in a property the more rights you have & longer notice required to terminate rental. Citizen's Advice have lots of info around rights. Maybe you've similar in Australia.

Ireland's government attacked the public health body & disregarded advice to increase restrictions. Our numbers hit over 1,000. I think we'll be moving between restriction levels for some time.

Hallowe'en is stay home & have your own family/household celebration. I'm gonna get sheets & we can make ghost costumes, carve pumpkin, play games & enjoy Samhain/Hallowe'en. My toddler won't know any different.

No idea what our rental laws are like. I do know that nobody gives a crap about the laws regarding renting properties that aren't safe or secure. The place I rented does not comply with the residential tenancy act for minimum security and has no lock on the back door. It was rented like that and I didn't know about it until after I signed the lease and moved in. Numerous work orders were put in and it still hasn't been fixed. I don't care anymore and if I get robbed, I'm suing the real estate agent for damages.

Another place I rented in 2015 has 11 cracks in the walls (you could see thru a couple of them) and the real estate agent refused to call out a builder or structural engineer to see if it was safe. After 6 weeks of trying to get something done I threatened legal action and the real estate agent took me to court claiming I threatened the owner. I don't even know who the owner was and certainly hadn't met them to threaten them. When we got into court they didn't mention anything about the alleged threats and simply said they wanted the lease broken and it was.

As for being on a lease, I am on a month by month basis and haven't had an official lease since 2017.

I have no idea what's going on. Work orders don't get done. I have to do my own plumbing repairs, which is in breach of the original lease that said I wasn't allowed to do any repairs. But since nobody else is doing them, I have to. There's still a tree laying on the front lawn after it got blown over in May. And there's no places left to rent here because they are all occupied and nobody wants to move during a pandemic.

I don't think Halloween is very popular here in the UK anymore, had like three trick or treat visitors last year.
When I lived in Perth, I was preparing some sort of meat for dinner. I had a white apron on and it had some blood on it from the food I was preparing. I also had blood on my hands and arms.

Someone knocked on the door and I yelled out, "Hang on, I need to wash the blood off my hands".

I then went and opened the door and it was people doing trick or treat. I didn't even realise it was Halloween and didn't know the people. The woman with the kids took one look at me and said "Woops, sorry, wrong house" and quickly ushered the kids away.

A friend popped up a minute later and said who was that. I said I assumed they were trick or treaters but didn't ask for anything. My friend said "I don't blame them, wtf are you doing?"
I said "What do you mean?"
He said "Look in the mirror".
I turned and looked in the hall mirror and had a splatter of blood over my face and neck and looked like a bleeding corpse.

Nobody ever came trick or treating to my place after that.

Many years ago when I lived in a garage, I had long hair and a devil beard. I use to play AC/DC, not excessively loud but it was going in the background. I'm pretty sure the song was Hells Bells.

Some Mormons rocked up and knocked on the garage door and I opened it and said "Yes" like lurch off the Adam's Family. The two people looked at me and said oops, gotta go, and briskly walked away. I never had door knockers after that either.

Im not sure what to say about covid since there are alot of untruthfull "facts" A while back the cdc said that there were sites in Florida that were testing 100%, it was then investigated and the test were deemed inaccurate. So the actuall amount of cases is not known and could be substatially lower than said.

Crazy knowing that the death rate is much lower than the 1st wave.
Let's hope it stays that way but I doubt it.:( The young have had a few weeks to pass it on to the old. The hospitals are already full/ filling up hence the reopening of Nightingale hospitals today. The only hope is that we have better treatments for the most serious cases this time around.

Another fun fact of my country;

You are not allowed to have girlfriend until you are 17
What about a boyfriend?

Latest news from Australian scientists says covid19 can live for a month out of the human body. They tested how long the virus could survive on various substances at various temperatures. The results are below.

The virus can survive for up to 28 days on smooth hard surfaces like glass, steel or plastic (including plastic money/ notes).

On materials like cotton, the virus can survive for 14 days at 20C and 7 days at 30C.

This means it is like most viruses and doesn't like hot dry conditions. Higher temperatures kill it sooner by drying it out. Colder temperatures and moisture help it survive longer out of the body.

They state that transmission from touching contaminated products is not the main form of transmission and most cases will be from direct person to person contact. So keep social distancing and wash your hands with soapy water after handling products that have been bought form the shops in the last couple of weeks.
