Total chaos over here. Covid stresses along with major protests downtown. Definitely no social distancing happening with the protests. Hundreds of stores destroyed and looted. Car fires, building fires. The police department was set on fire.
I have been watching that on the news. It's unfortunate that most of the people out there destroying stuff are doing it because of stupid mob mentality and their criminal nature, and they are simply using the death of a black guy as their excuse.
I can understand they are upset about someone being killed by the cops and they have every right to be and to protest. But when their protest sets fire to buildings and cars, and innocent people get attacked by enraged mobs, that is wrong and all the people involved should be arrested and charged for inciting violence, and anything else the courts can throw at them.
This isn't just confined to the US either, apparently there are now protests and riots occurring in other parts of the world in support of the US situation. That is completely outrageous and uncalled for. People in different countries have no reason at all to riot or have violent protests over something that happened in the US.
Please note, I am not on the cop's side and think this is an appalling situation that should not have happened. The cop should be charged because anyone with half a brain knows you don't kneel on someone's neck because you do damage.

This all goes back to antiquated laws in the US and the fact it is a Police state. Police have been given more powers to use force because of the number of criminals with guns. Shoot first and ask questions later. Unfortunately, some of the Police think they are gods and push the boundaries. When they combine that with a touch of racism and having a bad day, this is the end result.
Unfortunately there is no way to guarantee every Police officer is going to follow the rules and there is no way of preventing racist people from joining the Police force. People can act normal at work but can have evil intentions they keep hidden. Police can also have a bad day and someone could do something that pushes them past breaking point and that can cause problems.
If guns were removed from society and only allowed to be carried by Police, they wouldn't have to be so aggressive when dealing with incidents and there would be less tension between the officers and the person they are dealing with.
Getting rid of the drugs would also help, as would reducing the number of vehicles on the road, in particular high performance vehicles. Amending the laws so everyone does not have the right to do whatever they want, and encouraging mainstream society to act more pleasantly would also help prevent situations like this.
None of these will restrict the average persons rights but it would make the cop's life a bit easier and less stressful. They could then be retrained to use less violence when dealing with people.
Yes there are always going to be criminals with weapons, but when there are more guns than people in a country, that is just stupid. And yes there is always going to be racism and there is not much you can do about that except try to educate people so they think before they act.
America needs to take a step back and rethink its laws and think about what those laws are doing to the general population. Quite frankly, most people around the world think the US is over the top when it comes to "their rights", and this is why lots of people hate the US.
