What can I feed my cories? all I have is flakes right now, and I havent feed them yet because I got them today. plz help :X

Hi Mike, ur cories will need bottom feeder food, but u can give them flakes for now until u can get to the store.cories are nocturnal(supposably anyway)mine are out swimming 24-7 I think..lol .Anyway they eat in the dark so drop some food in right before u turn their light off for the night.I don't always turn off the light right away, fun to watch them eat :D Oh by the way I have a male betta in my cory tank, who seems to think he's a cory, eats off the bottom with the rest of the cories(which I refer to as kittyfish) :D Well have fun with ur new kittyfish.

Hi mike777 :)

You can't go wrong feeding your corys! They will eat anything that will make it to the bottom of the tank.

If you want the flakes to go down there, put them on top and stir the water until they sink.

My corys eat spirulina discs, tubiflex worms and blood worms (live or freeze dried), shrimp pellets, goldfish granules, dried brine shrimp and regular tropical fish flakes.

My Corys sure aren't nocturnal! They're out and about much of the day (and possibly night, but I'm asleep then, so I don't know).

As far as food goes...they eat most anything I put in there. They eat tropical flakes and granules, tubifix worms, bloodworms (I think; not sure if any ever get to the bottom), algae wafers, and they check out the cucumber...not sure if they actually eat any.

I have a male betta in my cory tank, who seems to think he's a cory, eats off the bottom with the rest of the cories.

My Betta doesn't scavenge on the bottom very often (unless there's a cucumber to check out), but my Platys sure do. So much for 'em being top feeders, eh? :)

Enjoy the Corys! I have three and I want more!

Hi mrsdorn and welcome to the forum :hi:

I see you have a betta with your corys and he acts like one of them. I have the same combination and think they are wonderful together. Mine eats off the ground, too, and goes into their caves with them. :D

Here is a link to my latest post about them in the betta and gourami section:

While you're there, why not check out the other threads and let us know about your fish? You will find a lot of real betta  fans there!
