Well said MBOU.

I've noticed a few topics kicking off lately. You just have to read some statement and you think, this is not going to go down well.

My initial post on this forum I had a comment which had taken me back but I let it slide. As I've been loitering this forum for a while you get a feel for the community which isn't appreciated initially.

I voted indifferent.... :)

People old & new need to realise we were all newbies at some stage and had all the usual problems with cycling, fish problems etc etc...
I love reading peoples different opinions & constructive critism, makes you think about what your doing, whilst learning all the time to give your fish a better life, and perhaps trying different ways that has worked for others.

One thing that bugs the hell out of me though is when people over time have asked for help, which kind hearted peeps duly help out, then months down the line another newbie comes on and ask these same questions, then get a reply of have a read around to find the info, rather than give the information that had helped them when they first joined.( i hope that makes sense  )

Yeah, on other forums I see a lot of "use the search tool noob" or words to that effect. I think people forget that sometimes people are not too sure what question they should be asking so it makes it hard for them to search for an answer. They word it as best they can and hope for a helpful answer, not a long line of tirades. This is what makes this forum so good in my opinion (imo ;) ) as people are happy to answer the same questions daily or even better point them to previous discussions where they can get other peoples opinions.

Exactly, or if your a bit older like me, its hard to get used to new forum layouts/tools etc. quickly, so its easy to get confused!

The search feature on this forum is pretty tricky indeed.

I admit that sometimes I get a bit short with folks who just don't seem to pay attention to the help they're being given. Also, when you see the same question pop up for the umpteenth time in the same week it gets a bit annoying.

Wait a minute ... this isn't the Anything you want to rant about thread, is it?
