Congo/african Dwarf Frogs?

lol pal has 4 bucks and we are about to get 3 females, though she promises no breeding. the current ones are:

1 mis marked irish
1 monk hooded
1 pink eye white
1 husky

they are great fun as pets.

half a block would probably be a tiny bit excessive, but about the best you will manage.

they sink pretty fast by the way.

Luke - it appears i then have two males. the third i cannot find right now, but as i have spawn eggs stuck to a coconut, going to guess female...

oh the ratties sound gorgeous! i actually have 26 at the moment-and getting four more on saturday  im obsessed with the little critters! most of mine have came from rescue centres though, as i feel so bad for all the homeless animals and im a total sucker for them! definately wouldnt recommend breeding from pet shop rats-so much can go wrong in a pregnancy and not knowing the line of the rats your breeding from could end up with agressive sick kittens! a great forum i always use is: http://www.fancy-rats.co.uk/community/index.php

if your not already a member i highly recommend! :good: see im obsessed-even end up talking about them on a fish message board! LOL

i wonder would a quarter of a block do for mine then or would that be too little? :/

another thing is that i have gravel in my tank and i read that some of the food can get stuck between the stones and the frogs not be able to get to them? but i suppose i wouldnt have that problem if i was holding the block for them to feed from before letting it go for the fish?

yeah, only 1 boy is store bought so to say, the other was from a breeder and the other two were rescues a shop had taken in and we got.

the 3 girls she is getting are coming from a breeder too.

and yeah, i read fancy rats quite often, just never post is all the friends doing, they are her rats :) i just look after them at times, play with them often and take them to rat shows. she is flogging_molly?

the problem you may get with quarters is quartering it. halfs are fairly easy to make as the lumps have this sort of "bit" in the middle to break them at.

you would probably be better with either the sachets i mentioned or chucking in half of frozen, and then next morning (chuck them in late in the day, about an hour before lights out) then do a quick gravel vac (filter water through a fine net into bucket then chuck filtered water back into tank, or do water change every time if you wish.)

yes i know what you mean about there being a "bit" in the middle of the blocks. its always worth a try getting them and trying cutting it and see how it goes. if not then i will try for the sachets!

does your friend post often on the forum? i can vaguely recall the name, but i havnt been posting there very much lately(im Ryo_the_Rat btw) do you know what breeder the 3 girls are comming from? i have a few breeder ratties too, but just find it much more rewarding to take on a rescue rat as i know breeders will find brilliant homes for all of their rats, whereas rescues can have trouble rehoming older/sick/aggressive rats-all the types im a sucker for!

yeah shes on the flaming thing daily like me with this forum lol.

dont know thei forums names, but she is getting 2/3 from a woman called Brenda and another 1 (if home needed for one) from a woman called Vicky. both mummy rats have just had the kittens actually.

im not sure who Brenda is, but i think Vicki might be Mana Rattery? i seen her thread on FR about the litter that has just been born-how exciting! bet your friend is chewing her nails over having to wait another 6 weeks for her babies!

that would be the one.

yeah she is, though its working out fine as there is a rat show near glsgow a couple of weeks later, about 7/8 weeks old, so we are just going to pick them up there. much easieras im also picking up a 4ft fish tank in glasgow. wait, no, thats a week sunday... i think. might be saturday...
