CONGRATS

They have finally hatched the little yellow thing is there egg yolk...If I were u I take the parents out when there 4-5 days...old maybe sooner...I think u said that there first time parents so..If u wan them alive and to survive might as well take them out... :)
Hmmmmm

Should I not wait until they are free swimming? It's only been 3days since they laid the eggs. I was thinking of leaving the angels to it, of course I want the fry to live but I know less than they do and it's more natural.

I am also worried because I am going away for 5 days (to Glasto!!) on the 23rd, and will be leaving the other fish without food for that time but what about the angel fry should there be any, I also have 3 week old krib fry but I think they will be ok. Someone is coming in to feed the guinea pigs for me but I don't want to ask them to feed the fish too, it's complicated with turning of the filters and all that.

Oh dear, oh dear.

Well go for it CS U want the natural way..I say leave them with the parents...WHO KNOWS anything might happend..But trust me theres going to be fry every 2-3 weeks..so They might end up doing it right..

Also that puts my theory of Lesbians :p to Crap

LOL,

After these fry, they will be put in the 320l because I need the cube for my discus who are stuck in a 40l at the moment. I don't have anything else big enough for either of them.

I doubt they will breed in the 320l as they never did before.

Is it possible to move fry? I have 5+ krib fry in a 78l with their Dad. I was thinking I could move the Dad back to the 320l and move the angel fry in with the krib fry. That would help me out because I don't know when the tank will be free of angel fry so the discus can move back in.

:S

Well........you know, I would honestly just leave things as they are right now.....I hate saying it but seriously they will probably get eaten :dunno: :-( Then, I don't mean to be crass, but you wouldn't have to worry about it anymore and can accomodate them when you return. I was hoping mine would make it.........they are on their 4th spawn right now........BABY EATERS!!!! I've tried everything from getting the pair their own tank...covering the glass with paper.......seperating the pair from each other.....nothing works......they keep eating them. And I KNOW they get fertilized because the very first spawn they hatched and YES they look like itty bitty teenie weenie hairs coming out of the egg and wiggling!!!!   SOOOO cute!!! :*)

If the wrigglers are still their the day before you leave then chances are they will live and you may want to catch them and put them in their own tank and then you can put all of your fish back in the cube and deal with the Mating Pair when you return.....although, you would have to get someone to feed the babies....once free swimming....don't quote me.....but they will live off their yolk sac for about 7 days. So if they are free swimming soon, you may have to start feeding them before you leave :X which means someone else will have to feed them when you're gone  ;)

Good Luck!!!!!!

Edit >I'll find the URL to the site that I used for info...I will PM it to you ;)

I seriously don't think they are going to eat the babies, they are doing very well and have now moved them from the intake pipe to some leaves in the tank. I think they are being very good parents, I just need the tank for the discus if possible.

I was not worried about leaving the angels and them eating the fry but about feeding the fry.

What I will do is, if there are free swimming fry, I will put them in the 40l tank. The discus will go in the cube and the adult angels into the 320l.

I just hope it's not too cruel to take the fry away from their parents.

Thanks for the link

Er... and WOOO HOOOO for France and non-England supporters!!

Um......don't get the non-English supporters thing -_-

BUT,
no prob about the link! Happy to!

I didn't think mine would eat the babies either. They made it to the 2nd day of wriggling and they were moved onto the plants too, but for some reason they just started eating them :dunno:

STUPID baby eaters!!!!!!

Hmmmm, I am not sure whether to take the adults out or leave them to it. I'd like to go more natural but obviously there are risks. I think there are risks either way though.

I was hoping to be able to move them when they are free swimming into the 40l tank, I don't think now would be the right time to move them.

Decisions, decisions!

Hey, just to update. The wrigglers are still wriggling!! Looking good for their being free swimming fry. Been 5/6 days now since they laid the eggs.

I tried to get a picture but it's hard with where they have put the wrigglers and trying to not disturb them.

Photobucket is down at the moment (12.00pm - 15/06) but I expect you'll be able to see the previous pictures again soon enough.

Here's a bad pic I managed to get:

Personally I'd leave the fry in with the parents wether they eat them or not, leaving the fry in there will make the bond of the parents stronger and they will have more experience for the next batch.

I don't want another batch. -_- I have nowhere to house all the fry my fish keep producing and no local LFSs will take them from me, even when they are grown.

I am going to leave the fry in with the parents for the time being because I think the more natural way is better. I will, when they are bigger move them in with my krib fry and use the 78l as a grow-out tank and move the parents to the 320l.

For now, I am going to totally rearrange my 320l and put the 4 discus in there, I just hope they are ok with my chromidotilapia finleyi. When the baby angels go to the 78l grow-out tank, I will put the angels in the 320l and the discus in the 225l.

Wow......looks like luck is still on your side

My pair have layed eggs AND eaten them in the time yours has done all this  :grr: ;)

Don't know how long it will take for them to get it right..........maybe never :dunno:

Good Luck!!
