my mother offen complains about my selection of fish, i prefer strange and interesting shaped fish such as eels birchir's, elephant noses and catfish, my mom likes realy colorfull fish like neons and cichilds, so shes been bitching all week how i should get more *colorfull fish* but any fish that dosnt get a certain size will get eaten by my fish, like her 5 neons are now 2 neons my elephant nose realy loves my mom for buying them :shifty:
so my question is do you know any fish that could be considerd *colorfull* that gets to be at least say 4 inches long the biger the beter and isnt too agresive/weak, preferably semi agresive, but fish dont usaly get bullyed in my tank unless they go near my elephant noses cave.

discus wont work in my tank because my water ph is nutral, and neons wont work because well... they get eaten

so any sudgestions? :/
also I'm putting up 4 corrys for adoption I'm not in a hurry i can w8 a few mounths its going to be a wile before my sengal gets big enough to eat them, ill put up the details to that in another thread.

ok i just desided that ill put them in my 20 gallon thats empty right now seeing as i cant part with my little cuties

Why not get some cichlids? Maybe try researching some of them online.

As Nadajdui says, some cichlids or dwarf cichlids sound right up your street.

Dwarf varieties will get to around 4 inch and should provide some interesting colourful behaviour. Kribs as you probably know are very common and they are quite hardy and are not too fussy about your particular water conditions. Personally I think some of the new world cichlids are gorgeous, maybe try looking at some apistogramma species.

Also a Gourami may provide the colour your mother desires. I've never kept any varieties of them before so I'm not sure how compatible they are with the rest of your fish and tank.

Parrot cichlid- there big, quite hardy and very colourful

ohh interesting, expt for the fact that there super agresive no?
 :shifty:

I have a couple gorami's she dosn't like them very much, shes realy realy fussy like she wants something that looks like a salt water fish, now dwarf cichlids are interesting, I realy like blue and gold rams but again they dont get big enough to not get eaten by my fish :/

also i already have a krib she sorta-likes it.

No, don't get a parrot cichlid. Just saying that cause I don't like them lol, I think they look very weird. Sorry all your parrot cichlid lover fans.
I think apistos and kribs would be perfect for your set up :D

i have a krib, my mom dosnt like it expt for the yellow fins... she is a real pain in the ass to please
but what about apistos? they might work

hey is it tue that if a corry gets eaten his spikes will kill the other fish and both fish will die? x_X

Try some clown loaches your looking at 12" full grown.

good call :good:

what size is the tank and what's it stocked with now?

what size is the tank and what's it stocked with now?

i was told it was a 55 gallon, it is 5feet by 2 feet by 2 feet tall, but honestly that dosnt sound right to mee probably closer to 75 gallon
and ive got the full list of fish on my profile if you just click on my name, a few of them are going into my 20 gallon though, I was going to sell my 20 but now ill keep it and put my 4 corrys, bolivan ram and weather loach in there.

any thoughts? currently theres no agresion in my tank expt my baby birchir keeps trying to swollow my corrys its kind of pathetic since he cant even fit the there tails in his mouth but yeah i'm moveing them out.

looking through your stock list it looks pretty near to full as it is tbh, i wouldn't wanna put anymore fish in until you've moved the one's out to go in the 20 :good:

yeah thats what I thought, ok but after I move the smaller fish into the 20, do you think a blood parrot would work? are they agresive? like many cichlids? *

so ill be moveing these fish into the 20 gallon in 3 days or so after i find out if the tank cloned properly, since its completly bare no water or anything because they will end up fish food the ram the barb, the dwarf gorami, paradise fish, the 4 corys, and the 2 wonder gold killi's

posibly the yoyo loach, its realy small right now not sure how big they get but hes about 1 inch right now, and a siting duck for my elephant nose.

ps what dose tbh mean?

i think a parrot would be fine, mine isn't agressive :good:

tbh - to be honest :)
