hi all, went to my lfs shop today that is normally up to a high standard.

at the back they have a very dirty tank with a plec half dead. i asked assistant and she stated that he was a clown plec!

he was in a pretty bad way so i brought him, kinda felt bad for him as no-one seemed to care!

any info on the little guy?

uh they need driftwood, don't eat algae, get 4-5", like to be in groups, like a hiding place they can call home, that's about all I know.

Territorial too, depending on what other fish you have with him. Mine will lunge at my cories if they get too near his java fern. Quite skittish too. Runs away when I approach tank. Eats a variety of fish food too. Hows he doing?

seems to have perked up a bit. eating ok but didn't like other fish near his algae wafer.

how come they need driftwood?

Hi Laura, nice of you to rescue a fish in distress. Best thing is laods of those algae wafers the concave raspy things, they will take live foods too if they get to the bottom without being knicked by something else, lights off for couple fo days should help him acclimatise and good water quality and you'll have a beautiful fish!

he is doing so well and does not seem so shy. he is funny with an algae wafer.

he has been named arther! here is a pic

That's not a Clown Plec
Edit: I'd say it's closer to a L001 (that grows up to 8")
Beautiful fish, but you'd have to think about a larger tank in the future :/

See edit above - you were too quick for me !

what a shame! probably going to have to re-home him!
so sad as ive fallen in love with the little guy! problem is he wont stay little for long.

how long will be take to get big?

Given enough space to grow, pretty quickly ! I'd say you have a few months grace to find it a good home though :)
