Cleanining my 15 gallon

I got a 15 gallon tank from my dad who bought it at a garage sale. And I'm cleaning it with like a scour pad I bought specifically for the tank. And there is like white crusty stuff on the inside corners of the tank and various places on the lid. I scrub as hard as I can but it just WONT GO AWAY.

It may be hard water whatchamacallit but It may not does anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of it?

Those are hard water deposits and very stubborn to remove. Personally I don't know too many safe products to remove this, but when i was fixing up a used 25 gallon, the water deposits showed less when full with water. Or you can find ways to hide like with tall plants.
Hopefully someone else can help

Could be a makeshift sealant applied by the previous owner. You don't want to weaken the patch job.

Could be what snowyangel says. Have you thought about using a fizzy drink to see if it'll eat it away?

MRshouty's mom here! Would the pop (or fizzy drink if you prefer) residue harm the fishies?? Do they like Mountain Dew?

you want to use some clear white (distilled) vinegar. The acid in it will dissolve away and loosen the calcium carbonate or limescale deposits......

Ideally, put some toilet paper over the areas to be cleaned and soak this in vinegar - it helps to keep it in contact with the crud.

It is completely harmless once you rinse it away.....
