will do.
Hopefully i will have water of some sort in it by next weekend as the other fittings should be coming mid week. Just need to order the pumps.

So im hoping to have salty water in 2 weeks time :yahoo:

So ive done my durso.
As you might be able to tell ive chopped the bends down abit on one side so they sit closer to each other so it will fit into the weir.

After (ive saved a 1.5 inch)

The place i bought my pipe from wanted a stupid price for the bulkhead. I already had one from the koi pond so i thought i'd use that instead. The pipe i bought wouldn't fit into the bulkhead so there was abit of a problem. After abit of thinking a grabbed some of the pipe from left over stuff of the pond and it fits perfectly inside the white pipe, it was made to go inside the bulkhead i already have.

As the black pipe fits well into the white pipe i wont be gluing it. This means my durso can be moved up and down to change the water level in the weir. As you can see from the pictures below.

Higher up water level

I then down the pipework under the tank to the sump. It might look messy but there's a reason for it. As its in my bedroom i need it to be silent. Water falling 2ft into the sump will sound like a waterfall. so with the bends it shoudnlt make much noise when it falls.

You can see i have a little black tap valve going from one of the 90 degree bends. When fully open this should allow upto 80 us gallons an hour into the refugium

I need the glue all the pipe work together but will do that when i do the returns.

thanks

thanks

i still haven't got the eyeball bulkheads for the tank. The shop said they will email me asap and i would have them for Wednesday. Carnt do anymore pipework until i get the bulkheads so might have to go to another shop thats abit more local.

i got the blue perspex for the side. i think i might use the blue as it all blends in better.

still haven't found a definite source for blue weir combs so if anybody knows of any please let me know.

thanks
chris

Couple of picture of the blue background and one of the black for comparison

I agree with you, now you have the blue you have to use that. It is much more consistent.

Funny thing is though, there is still something I like about the black. It does not look out of place but seems to enhance it in a way I cannot explain.

The blue will make it seem as if it is a larger corner tank with the continuation of colour, the black makes the tank look deeper. Thats the only way I know to describe it.

i have to agree with everything you just said to be honest.

The way the perspex will be held on (side only) will mean it will take 2 seconds to change once the tanks finished as it will probably look different again once its finished with fish and rock.

I still prefer the black - like to be different  but the whole thing is looking mighty fine

thats a good looking little tank.

Is STM as good as they say then? Im quite tempted to have a trip down for a few corals one weekend.

Wow chris, some great construction work there, looks like you really know what you're doing :)

cheers.
Im not too sure tbh. i was expecting it to be a massive place with tank full of corals/fish. i must of only saw the dry side of the shop which was a fair size which had a few tanks of corals but didnt see any fish so must of in a different section. I really wanted to look but totaly forgot tbh, after coming out of the shop £170 lighter for pipework, salt a few test kits and a light i wanted to go asap lol.

looks nice :)
