Another type of starfish? Any proper/real name for it?

It's an asterina ...little stars that either eat coral or algaes...luckily this little guy eats algae and diatoms so is a good guy. They will reproduce rapidly if well fed and may need thinning out over time but nice fre cuc there !!

The other guy is a brittle star..most tanks have large amounts of these little scavengers and again a great free cuc

Buddy I did wonder where that came from.

Would you like to meet me Seffie and Rabutt under the third rock on the reet

You may not get any at all if there is little die off. You only get a lot of die off if it has been out of water for a while.

It was only out for an hour and i poured an inch of salty water in when i was there

Check on big c's live food cupboard on his cupboard killis thread on the , you guessed it, killi section,lol..
This set up could be easily converted for phyto, rotifers, brine shrimp etc...very tidy set up indeed !
Oops..just noticed i missed a few pages here,lol...this is still a good idea to culture food for a mandy, etc though,lol..

will have a look later. thanks

looks good chris. Really like the rock. Hope the cycle goes real quick for ya :)

Thanks

Cheers.

Ive also seen a wormy thing. White in colour, has quite a flat front end. It was out in the dark and took 10 or so seconds to retract. Does not seem to leave the crack/hole. Just kind of reaches out.

didn't test the water today as i got back from 2 1/2 hour drive from Weymouth 30 Min's ago so has been a long day (left at 7 this morning).

Anyway I will be changing the eheim 1260. TBH the hume i unbearable, sat here on the laptop watching the Chelsea game :hooray: and its driving me driving nuts, going right though me head. so will be getting a compact 3000+ to replace it.

As soon as i got back i wired up 4 leds for moonlights. They look great although they seem to be light spot lights so might sand the end down abit in the hope it will diffuse it. If it don't work then i haven't really lost anything.

Ammonia - <0.25
PH - 8.3
NitrAte - 10
NitrIte - 0

Tested the water today and yesturday and the aboe results are the same for both days.

Am i able to add a few CUC snails? As theres a type of red hair/slime algea starting to appear with the lights on (for the toadstool if anything comes from it).

Thanks

yea I'd say you can safely add a few of the really cheap snails. Example are astrea's cost $1 here so add a few of the cheap ones. That way if you do happen to get a lil spike at some point and they die, it's not a huge loss.

What progress do you want seffie? lol

The toadstool is changing very slighly so it might grow! Water parameters havent changed sine the last post.

The ATC 800 is great. Keeps the water between 25-26 (changed it to 24-25 now). Only thing i dont like is the fact that the fan only switches on after 1 degress above the temp you have it at (in my case it will be 25 degrees now). Would be best if you could turn the fan at 0.1 degree's or even 0.5 degrees above the set tempreture.

Will get a few pictures in a few minites.

When i get back the first thing i will be making is a copepod tank, then a 4-6 tube, 24w, t5 light fitting.

Then the last thing will be a mechanical auto top up, have left ordering te bits too late and want to order the valves i know are food grade. Am losing about 15mm of water a day in the pump section!

We always have such a long list of things to buy don't we............... do you think it ever stops?

I hope the list dont get much bigger. I only wanted a few fish and corals!

Any idea what this is? Has a few what appear like branches and no bigger than 1cm. Also the thing next to it on its right hand side. Kind of like a worm/tube.

Thought id give a little update.

Got back today and the tank dosent look too bad. considering i havent cleaned the glass since the i set the tank up and its not looking too bad. need to get a scraper for the glass.

The 3 snails i bought are still crawling around. Will be testing the water tommorow and see how its doing (shouldnt be to bad considering the snails are still about).

Need to get my cheato sorted out asap aswell as my skimmer than will hopefully be able to stock.

thanks
chris

ps sorry about any mistakes/grammer has been a long day/night.

May I make one little suggestion - it looks like all your rock is stacked against the back wall - this will restrict flow, I would be tempted to move it away from the wall :good: and go for a bommie type look
