Chris' Braceless Zeo Reef

told you!! ha ha

good stuff isn;t it mines been fine for almost 12 months so no danger of peeling or owt :good:

I honestly couldnt believe how well it stuck to the tank! When i applied the gloss it felt like it didnt want to stick on but the tile paint just grabbed it. Only need 2 coat aswell :good:

Wont be getting the tank set up now until mid January. The company doing my acrylic weir covers have let me down so i now need to find another company to do it.

Last weekend i set up the frag tank and transferred over the stock from my old nano to the frag tank. Sorry about the pictures quality, they were just quick ones from my mobile.

Plumbed up

LoL thanks.

I was never interested in 'sticks' until I saw the Zeovit forum.

When I saw the colours of some of the SPS on there it changed my mind.

I will be adding a few LPS like my current hammer and Duncan coral. I also plan to add another Duncan as well as a torch and sun coral.

My t5 tubes arrived today.

3x Narva blues (54w)
1x Sylvania Grolux (54w)
1x GE 6,500K (54W)
3x Phillips 817 17,000k (54w)
6x GE 6,500K (80W)

My fixture takes 5x 54w tube and 2x 80w tubes in my fixture so will be playing about with mixes during the holidays.

Im really impressed with the Narva's much brighter then my old Arcadia one ever was will probably only use 2 to begin with.

Ive also tried out my Tunze pumps 1x 6025 and 1x 6045. Can not believe how loud they are! I've got to turn the 6045 off while at night as its in my bedroom. I emailed Tunze Wednesday night probably wont get an email back till after Xmas now.

Havent really done much over the holiday as ive been waiting for the acrylic wier cover. Almost finished my light though. Just waiting on a twin 80w ballast and another 54w twin ballast (54w ballast was faulty) aswell as the fans.

Even though i'm waiting on the ballast i went ahead and suspended the light fitting with the acradia suspension wires.

Hopefully will have the acrylic for next week.

Reef bones are still soaking in RO water. Although the Phospahte reading have droped a little bit there still to high for me. Im planing on giving them an acid dip (been reading about it on RC)

Still looking to have the tank scaped and full of salty water for around the middle of January. Which would mean should have my current fish and a few hardier coarls in by the end on the month.

Almost finished my stand today. Just needed to finish the skirting round the bottom. Think i will be getting the light unit powedercoated white now. Looks clean with the unit being white makes the black background stand out more.

Makes the tank look almost finished now!

Again sorry for the poor phone pictures but there much easier to load onto the comupter.

Haven't made much process really. Im currently soaking the KZ gravel in RO. The reef bones/plate is still soaking in RO water.

My light unit is now running on the 7 tubes, just waiting for the LED's to arrive for the moonlight. I have the fans but again waiting for the moonlight as I don't want to keep taking it down.

Ive bought myself a quarantine tank which is currently holding my existing stock.

I had a little problem with my frag tank on Friday morning when i was woken to a sound of a waterfall at 6.45.

I built the frag tank about 1 month ago and was fine till Friday.

I had it running and plumbed into the sump which was holding the fish and a few softies.

Thankfully I only lost about 15 litres onto the carpet.

Now I need to get a new one now so will go glass this time. Anyone know a tank builder around the Middlesex area? Only one I know of is ND aquatics. The tank is only 600mm x 390mm x 200mm deep so don't want to travel to much to collect.

Thanks
Chris

bit fair away. Delivery will probably cost more than the tank itself. I've had a quote from nd for it. Although a little more than i expected don't think i will get it any cheaper.

Little update

Things haven't really gone well latly.

The probe for my temperature controller was knocked out overnight. In the morning i looked at the controller like normal and it read 18 degree's. Then found the probe and it was on the floor. Poped it back in and it was readings 29.9. since then ive had a fair bit of stripping on a few of my SPS.

Ive also had a small outbreak of sps nudibranch. I dipped 3 in a Potassium Permanganate solution. 2 made it the other died.

Still having trouble with the acrylic. emailed so many acrylic company's they give me a price and when i want to pay for it they seem to drop out!

I stopped soaking my reef bones about 2 weeks ago, I was still getting readings of phosphate. After looking on RC i saw a thread which involved dipping the bones into acid. Some have also soaked there's in the acid for 30 minutes. Received the acid on Wednesday after ordering it on the 4th January and paying for 2 day delivery.

Tried soaking the reef bones for 20 minutes, you can see where acid has taken a layer off the bones. Went out for the afternoon with the intension of finsihing the soaking tonight. Got home and my gloves dissapered. Looked round the garden and found one glove half buried and with 2 fingers missing:mad: so now need to go and buy another set.

Hopefully in 2 weeks time the tank will be up and running!
