Chris' 40 Uk Gallon Journal

thanks for the comments

plants are starting ot touch the top again and there also thickening out so looks alot better so looks like another chop on sunday

only problem is algea

have a few types

ones a yellowy/brown colour with seems to be just below stone level (will get pictures tommorow)

the other is thread algea growing in the HC

i have left it for a few days (still gosing EI etc) but just left it to do what it wants as ive just changed the photoperid (last sunday) but it hasnt go any better

ive got no idea on water stats ect anybody know what the algea is? and the best way to avoid thses types? as you can see theres a fair amount of plant mass in there or do i need more?

thanks
chris

Is there any updates on thus tank?

will be tommorow. whe i gets a major prun as i havent touched it since April 22 so the polysperma has almost taken over.

however i can pretty much say im algea free (wakes up tommorow morning to see every type of algea possible) its all died off from leaving it alone and letting the polysperma take over

ohh almost forgot my carpet which was starting to grow well is almost gone as in thrown in the bin as it had to much algea on so i have a little bit spread around the tank (which hasnt seen much light so therefore is not growing well at the moment).

will get before and after pictures tommorow when i trim the ploants

thanks
chris

eeerrrrrrrrrr
it looks alot different now lol

at the moment its in my garden (took the background out and had to re glue the braces back in place)

the background was to big the plants went to mad and got tangled together the only thing im keeping is the bacopa australis

im starting a freash again so this it my 3rd time so hopefully 3rd time lucky and will be starting a new journel within a few days

or look at my sig :D

however i am missing my planted tank. with a few hundred £'s worth of equioment sitting round :(

It's a shame to not see the planted tank, however the mbuna tank looks cool. Why not make the Malawi tank semi-planted? With just a few bits of vallis and anubias, it can be done.

i did think about it but didnt want the hassle of them pulling plants of the rocks etc.

i still have a semi planted tank with my cpd's/galaxy rasbora in.

might plant my 5 gal just put a 36 watt pc tc on it form when i was going to plant it before so will be a christmas project but will be growing hc emersed? i believe that what its called? also have a bushy effect on the other side of a few slower growing plants

chris
