Location
The Goodeid Room
Four weeks ago I Bought 2 pairs of nice looking goodeid Species at a British livebearer Association auction,
Both pairs have adapted well to their new environment. female in early stages of pregnancy,

IF you live in the UK the BLA auction is the place to visit for rare and unusual livebearers Most are rarely seen In tropical fish shops
Some fish can fetch very high prices. The fish are of good quality from dedicated fish keepers and often come with With collection /location details ,
Below very expensive fish, however I did buy a few other species of Live -bearing fish As usual I got the fish I wanted

There are a few goodeid species that mark my top 5 favorite splitfins . The Characodon species is one of them.

I have 5 species and soon will get more . my all-time favourite is the black prince C, audax

which Characodon or species are you looking for ?

I'm looking for Girardinichthys viviparus again...

I have G. viviparus , on my list is G. multiradiatus , both species are hard to find and can be difficult to keep for many fish keepers
Same here. But I'm patient.
Yes, there are also many people overhere who just think that every livebearer species is easy to keep. Even to seasoned keepers of rare livebearers there will be livebearer species that are a real struggle to maintain.

some of the most difficult fish to keep are from the livebearer family I also get many people saying that livebearers are easy to be keep and some of them had never got past the famous 4

I have past on small groups of G. viviparus to dedicated fishkeeping friends who have the tank space and time to look after them and willing to keep keep them long term ,

That's the main problem. They only know the big 4 and specifically the breeding forms of them. For within the big 4 when we speak about wild forms, there are also species that are hard to maintain.
There are even many who call themselves a livebearer specialist but also only know the big 4. So, not to be arrogant but I won't call such people livebearer specialists. Someone who called himself a livebearer speciialist called me a liar once. Just because he couldn't believe that there were more livebearer species outthere than just guppies, mollies, swordtails and platies. For if it was true, he would've known about it. For he's been keeping livebearers for 5 years and that made him very knowledgeable according to himself. A typical example of a know-it-all. He was a young person, btw. And not to shame young people but I do have to admit that most of these know-it-alls are younger people. They extract their info from sites in the internet which also contains false info and copy that and they believe that they've got their hands on the correct info. And use that to advise others. Most of them didn't get their knowledge by experience throughout the years as you and I did, for that matter.

I have met few people like that .there will always be Idiots trying to prove you wrong. The Internet is a good place to research to gather information about the fish that one would want to keep. As we both know back in the day Decades ago before computers were available Gathering information And finding fish keepers with rare livebearers Was difficult to find , However I come across an add with rare livebearers for sale in a tropical Fishkeeping magazine Where I got in contact with Mervyn Strange chairman of Southern Livebearer Aquatic Group. Mervyn put me ncontact with a very knowledgeable fish keeper Who lived very local to me we soon become good friends Often visiting each other's fish rooms Exchanging fish and talk about how to get some of these difficult fish to breed and how to get them good breeding condition . Since I become a member of SLAG many years ago I have become Good friends with some of the most knowledgeable fish keepers Sadly, some are no longer here, Without such dedicated fish keepers I would never of had the privilege of keeping and learning about so many wild types of livebearer
