8 weeks ago i got 10 CPD’s. One fish died roughly 1 week after getting them (seemingly had swim bladder disease or some similar condition), and i have noticed another sick fish today. Its spine is bent and it has white lacerations over one side of the body. Its struggling to swim and seems to lay on the bottom of the tank where little current is felt and will just stay there.
Im slightly worried this could be fish tuberculosis? Has anyone had a similar problem and know what it could be? Another thought is an injury but the lacerations along with bent spine is worrying? Or could this be some other form of bacterial infection etc? Thanks.

I would isolate and maintain daily water changes in the hospital tank to reduce chance of infection if that laceration is still open, poor thing. What else is in the tank? Any new additions? Water parameters, is the tank cycled?

maybe its an infected cut

There are no new additions in the tank, but we have a couple snails and shrimps in there which were in there before we even got the fish. Keep testing the water and all levels seem okay, and all other fish at the moment seem okay too but i have read that it could form a pattern of deaths over a long stretch of time. The tank is cycled yeah.

Do you have any other fish in the tank? CPD are timid eaters and easily outcompeted for food. They also eat slowly and have difficulty finding food on the substrate. When I feed mine anything other than floating food I put it in a white dish so they can find it. Bent spine is often a sign of poor nutrition.

The lacerations look like bites (from other CPD). Usually they recover without intervention but not always. Make sure you have plenty of "line of sight" cover. They do better in larger groups (20-30) and are best kept in a species only tank. Make sure you do large weekly water changes to reduce risk of infection. I change 75% every week in my tank. (FWIW my shrimp are fine with this)

We only have CPD but tried to get more female than male as we knew males are known to fight and bully other fish. But okay thats interesting to know, thank you. We do a water change weekly and have 10 CPD in the tank, but just hoping its not fish tuberculosis and hasnt been passed onto the other fish in the tank!
