Carinotetraodon No Longer In Cuba

so...

after hours of wating this morning parcel force came to deliver my order :)

sorry i have not many pics, i was so excited and was just ploughing through the steps

so i put it my tropica plant substrate, capped it with sand, the next step was the hardscape

as i am a beginner please dont laugh :hyper:

this was what i thought the basic kind of layout i wanted, unfortunately the wood i ordered was too small, so i may change that at a later date, you will see some pics with it and some without, i wanted to get the rocks in first, i didnt really have a clue what i was doing :) i sawed the driftwood!, it doesnt look great but i will be getting riccia which will sort that out. At the moment( after i added water) the driftwood is having to be weighed down in another bucket as it floats, dispite aqua essentials saying it sinks

i put the java fern in first, this was very hard seperating all of the rhizomes from the wool as they were pretty well grown. as i planned, this is not enough, so bare in mind i will be having another smallish order from plants alive (delayed til next week)

suprisingly this actually looks pretty similar to the overhead plan i drew ages ago (not uploaded on here)

hopefully in a couple of weeks the carpet will start to form as the p.helferi and cuba grow. i was going to seperate all of the plantlets of cuba but i couldnt be bothered :) so i just planted them in fairly small groups with a bit of wool around them hopefully to act as an anchor,

sorry i dont think i have mentioned i planted "dry", as in no water, good must have been looking down on me becuase i had no floaters!, every single plant stayed down. saying that though it did take me 30 mins to fill, first half with an airline

will post some more pics in a bit...

dont laugh

Looking good m8ee, should look really nice once it starts to fill out :)

yea, at least its got a few weeks where it can be un disturbed, apart from me.

one bad thing though, is that one of my lights broke, the tube doesnt work. its not the unit, i will just need to go and get a new tube- hopefully free through guarentee :)

plus the colour of the lights is pretty bad, its like a purple pink, i will post again later to show what i mean

thankyou

looking good!

yeah i dont think the colour of arc pods. i prefer a whiter light

what?- you dont think the colour of the arc pods? :) thanks anyways tom

actually, does anyone know a site online where i can get 2 replacement tubes for the 11w arc pods reasnobly cheap???

whats funny is that the most dangerous, easycarbo comes with an easy to open top, whereas tpn+ has a child proof one that you have to push down and then turn...

the aqua essentials order came today, i have been setting up the tank, i will post pics later.... be warned, they arnt very good

also note that seachem excel is the only product with a saftey cap in the WHOLE line of products!

Everyday use will be fine, just dont do anything "on purpose"

nice start :good:
the rock positioning is good however i would suggest pointing the rock on the right the oppositie direction to create "tension"

ok thanks aaron, i spose i will have to get used to this aquascape speak :) - i will jig things about 2moz night

looks good, are you soaking that wood?

buy a 6500k 2 pin single bend tube from lamp specs, like in the link i sent you. mixture of the two (the lamp specs and the stock one) may look good.

I really like it mate, was hoping to see a pic from the front with the wood in ... suppose I'll have to wait until it's soaked :good:

hopefully the wood will be good for when the plants alive order comes next week, this consisits of riccia(for the wood), if the woods not ready i will just bung this on the surface for the moment, some more java fern, hopefully larger leaves :) some hemanthius micranthemoides(stem plant) for left hand side and rear.

I have a few little pics of the hc and p.helferi. im not sure if its pearling or if there is just oxygen stuck on all the surfaces like in any new tank

it might be pearling because of the high CO2 content of tap water

ok, truck. i have looked about getting new lights, its ridiculous, if you spend less than £9, ie 4 light tubes the delivery is £10, whereas if you spend more than 9 and get 5 tubes its only 2.45 so the order comes to about 13 squid! my dad is going to see if he can get some through work :) - failing that, will wilkinsons do them?
