Carinotetraodon No Longer In Cuba

I've always liked theArc Tanks but never got round to getting one :)

The Arc Pods aren't por in design really. They ar just CF Which isn't my favourite type of fluoro light. Great in theory to have much more light from a CF, poor in pctice when it comes to trying to design a reflector to utilise all the extra light because of the bent tube :( Thats why linears are so good. siple to make a long reflector that 'wraps' the tube.

I think 1ml TPN+ and 1ml Easycarbo will be fine. Thats what George Farmer used on his latest 30Ltr.

I only used to use 6ml TPN+ on my 125ltr and you'll be on the 'safe' limit with the easycarbo for your size tank at 1ml. I think the recommended is 3ml per 100Ltrs. I use 0.3ml on my 10Ltr

No need to let the sand dry. Just leave it under a running tap and the scum will spill over the edge. You won't get it all out but the filter with a bit of floss (79p from Wilko) will get it. I never even bother cleaning it. Straight in and let the filter do it but then I'm lazy :)

thanks isnail and supercoley1, i still havnt decided whether to plant wet or dry.. i spose i will decide on the day :)

just a small question, to see what people advise:

so the heater has a little guard on the bottom which is removable, at first i thought it will have to be on, but then if you look there is a gaping hole at the hop which is unfillable, so if the puffer/shrimp want to get in there they can anyway
on: takes up another inch and a half

off: saves space(coin for size comparison)

top hole(unfillable)

what do you rekon, have the guard on or off?

if its there, then its there for a reason.

If you do take it off then shrimps & smaller fish will be sucked up. Its like running any external filter without an intake strainer. Even when it is on you will find some in the filter.

ok thanks, but my point is that the heater doesnt suck, its just a heater, and whats the point in having a guard at the bottom if they can get in the top larger hole?- surely it will be better to leave it off so if they do go i the top they can come out of the bottom??

yes it is, but i am not connecting it to a filter, so there will be no suction going up the chamber, the hole was designed so it can fit on an external but obviously not using it that way it will have a gaping hole down the middle

it wont create suction through the chamber will it?

what do you rekon truck(and anyone else?)

ok cheers, do you know if tpn+ is harmful? as my mom and dad keep grilling me about keeping it in house
tell your mum that her bleach could cause equal or more damage to the stuff you use. the biggest risk would be the easy carbo, not sure on TPN+ but it cant be that dangerous
