Hi i have just walked through the door back off holiday and i go and check my fish. as you do. all fish are ok and swimming fine. except the cardinals have lost all their red! they now have a bright blue almost indigo strip and their red had completeley disappeared. i'll get some pics up tomorrow as my phone is dead and i have to go to bed to be up at silly o clock to get to work. i'll be doing a water change tomorrow and doinf a complete service on the filters etc...
before i went away i did a big water change and a tank clean so i could be confident all would be well before i went away.

any help will be good.

cheers

Have you just turned the tank light on? If my tank has been in the dark, then I put the lights on, my tetras tend to have no red colour either. It takes an hour or so for them to colour up!

like above

if you turned the light on from dark they will be "sleeping" they lose color and become unaware of external effects kind of like us we aren't as alive in the morning compared to during the day :good:

i've had the light on timer but this is not known to be 100% relable. cheers for the advice i don't think they are ill as they are all swimming with no probs and don't appear to be in any distress. thanks again!

Thanks bagu and beccimac1987. i got up for work and when i got back the red had come back on them!
crazy lil things.

cheers for the help x

 Bless them. Perhaps they were a little 'blue' because they missed you!
