Can You Really Do This?

It's a fake, the image looks very photoshop, Also I saw amickey mouse platy in a SW tank at my LFS last week. It was pretty healthy and annoying the bigger clown fish LOL

Pfft what a scam... and even if they did somehow defy nature and merge SW and FW fish, it's not natural and IMO, no fishkeeper worth their salt (bit ironic...) would want to do it.

That other link is interesting though. But wouldn't the fishes' slime coat/gills be damaged spending hours out of water?

Of course you can put freshwater fish in salted water!

You just have to remember to add black pepper and veggies, otherwise the soup won't taste as good.

EDIT: On another note, a scientist from the Philippines have developed a system where he puts fish to "sleep", takes it out of the water for hours, then puts it back in water to revive the fish. This one's for real, he won an award for it. They'll be using this technology lessen shipping costs of fish (no water needed to ship fish ergo lighter cargo load = cheap fresh fish). I'll post the link when I find it.

So I guess not all incredulous news reports are fake.

Found it: Sleeping fish ;)
There are a number of facts omitting from that report.

From the way it is written:

In both the second and the final rounds, Comandante showed the sleeping fish being awakened when placed in a water-filled plastic bag.

It sounds as if he did not perform the feat there. Only showed a recording of it.

Also, I can't find the species of fish used in this experiement. So long as they are kept moist, snakeheads can survive over a day out of water, so it would not be very impressive if he used one of them. Also, I seem to remember reading that other fish (maybe snakeheads) build burrows in mud (technically out of water) and survive for weeks and beyond.

It looks an interesting ability, though we need to see a lot more evidence of it before I believe we will see neons coming in by the boxload without water.
