It could be worse. If you want an example of a dreadful forum with dreadful people, look no further than the Flat Earth Society forum. It'll make you despair.

Dear god, I reckon serial killers get created by websites like that!! the stuff they go on about

I could only take five mins of reading a few threads and wish I never did :X

+1!!! Thats the biggest pile of s**t I have ever read!! And if they are just pretending, what the hell is the point???!!!!

it it makes killers that's a hell of a lot of them 6332 members !

Dear Mods, Owners, etc.,
As above. We had new members saying they joined because they had been members of other sites but this one was better because of the help and respect they received.
There are different threads which have content that some people view as pointless but they don't need to read them if they don't want to. When it comes down to it we're all here because we love the hobby.
So all I'm saying is please leave it as it is. A place where all levels of expertise is respected and welcomed, not a place where every post is scrutinised, and where some of us fishkeepers with enough to be worrying about in everyday life can maybe have a laugh or two.
With respect,
An aquarist with only 1 year experience and every bit of knowledge I have, I gratefully recieved from this site,
Fintastic. :flowers:

well said sire!

I to learned much from this forum. in terms of fish and their keeping. the physics and other principles i already had. i just needed to learn how they affected the hobby.
indeed i can remember my first posts, and their subject. without doing a search. ( I was looking to repair a split seam on my tank. and had been told, elsewhere, it could not be done).
I stayed because of another comment you made:

I have a severalty disabled, both mentally and physically, daughter. bringing her up, is both immensity frustrating and unbelievably rewarding.
TFF was somewhere, totally unconnected, where i could loose myself.

only comment i would make is on "pointless threads". they take up valuable and expensive storage and band width.
if you want to waffle rubbish, find a rubbish/pointless forum to air it, on.(someone here suggested the Flat Earth Society)

Googled it... Mother of God. What a load of freaks

Well reading most of this thread, it appears that you all know a lot more than me, so I would say, keep calm and see how things pan out,I have only been here a few weeks, and don't know the Mods like you guy's,but you all have a lot to give beginners like me, so think about it carefully.........

Wow, this thread was a bit disheartening to read. I just found this site a couple of days ago and immediately fell in love with it. I don't know the back story to what you are all going on about, but I certainly hope this site does not fall to pieces. This was exactly the kind of forum I had been looking for and was so thrilled to find it! Hope it all works out!

1 good thing to have come out of it is that I have seen a different side to raptorrex. Never knew all this about you pal. :friends:

Basically, the forum was sold, mods retired, mods were fired, new owners loaded the place up with ads and will put up more and added new "functions" that nobody cares about and people got pissed. I know I did. I +3547588&7564554554 to the original post!!!!!

Me either. Got a lump in my throat there Raptorrex. :-(

whilst i make no secret, of it. its something that never seemed relevant to things here.
the only member who knew, was Matt who has met, Morgen. (my daughter).
though I'm sure i would have made comments relating to it, at some time here, in the past..

indeed it was Morgen who got me into fishkeeping.
she wouldn't leave a friends tank, alone. seeming fascinated with it.

so, when they wanted to sell it, we bought it.

Big, big mistake. I knew nothing about fishkeeping.
and now had a fully stocked, badly cycled tank,
that had been treated continually, with meds.. so much so all the deccor was blue.
so yes, i commuted the cardinal sin, i now chide others for here.
I bought a tank and stock with no research, and absolutely no knowledge of the hobby.

so i get a acquaintance to allow me to seed my filter from his mature media.
and over several months got the tank stable.

so thats how i started.

Lol, i guess it isn't something you would need to mention on a fish keeping forum.

I started in a similar way. Knew nothing, bought it out of the paper, washed the filter out under the tap, set it up, bought a bigger tank, boshed the fish in with no cycle or seeded media, found this place, realised i knew zilch and then amended all my incompatable fish.

Nice to get to know you a little better anyway. :good:

Exactly how is a thread "rubbish" if it relates to some poster's actual fish related happenings? I find it very interesting to see what some folks are planning to do with rescapes, added or moving fish, treating an illness, etc. Especially if you happen to know these posters personally from other threads.

if you want an answer, as opposed to an argument, try using your usual, forum, name. not a newly opened second account!
dont bother replying, with this name, coz you are on my ignore list. as soon as i post this.

lol, 6 years on the forum, and you are my first "ignore" member.

I believe that everyone who has a comment to make on the subject has had ample time to make it. Someone has even started a new acount so he could comment more. It looks like it's time to close this thread. :)
