Can Someone Please Let Me Know What Is Happening To My Plants!

So I should do this than:

40 grams of KNO3 and 3 grams of KH2PO4 per 300ml (Same container)
6 grams of CSM+B per 100ml

Than KNO3 & KH2PO4, 12ml, once a week
AND
3ml of the CSM+B once a week?

Schedule

Saturday: KNO3 & KH2PO4 12ml
Sunday: CSM+B 3ml
Monday: ...
Tuesday: ...
Wednesday: ...
Thursday: ...
Friday: ...

Does this sound fine?

i think your way overdosing too much. You'd be suprised at how much/little i add to my tanks. Also these plants like root pellets more so than liq ferts. Your pH is a bit high though and that may be also why they have been 'stunned' especially since they would have been probably grown in different conditions from where you bought them.

Thanks for your reply.

I have also thought about the pH as well, but I have had these plants in my tank for about 7 months now, so I doubt the pH would still effect them. I have also read that these plants will grow just fine in a higher pH such as mine, so I hope that is the case.

Anyway, I am reducing the amount of fertilization.

I was doing EI (estimated index) where if I had Co2 injection I would not have been over dosing, more than likely under-dosing. However, since I do not have Co2 injection, I am going to start to dose way less, do less frequent water changes, and hope for the best.

Thanks again for your reply!

Yes, slow things right down and you should start seeing an improvement, if this doesnt work i'm stuck.
Thanks, Aaron

I have been dosing Micro and Macro ferts now for nearly 2 months and I have yet to see any positive signs in growth.

55 gallon tank, pH around 8, Lights on for 8 hours a day, 1.6 WPG T8, no Co2 injection or addition of any kind.

3 times a week CSM+B
3 times a week KNO3 & KH2PO4

Here are the pictures I have taken. Please see if anyone can help me out here!

Thanks!

Hello, I had the same problem when my NO3 got too low, it's better since increasing NO3 dosing.

Just wondering if you managed to check your water parameter? I don't see any values being posted.

cheers

Nitrate is at 40 ppm right now.

And of course Ammonia and Nitrite are at 0 ppm.

Thanks!

After I trimmed away all the dead leaves a couple days ago, I was really able to look closer at my plants.

Some of the leaves seem to be a bit yellow, which, according to www.aquaticplantcentral.com, is either to be an Iron or Calcium deficiency?

Should I be adding some sort of Iron or Calcium? Or could this just be a contributing factor from the lack of Co2 previous to this?

Also, on some leaves, the edges of them are rolled under a bit; not a lot, but just enough to notice it.

Here are a few pics; it is hard to tell but you can see that some of the leaves are a little yellow. This is easier to see if it were in person.

^^
Also, in this picture right about here, lol, you can see some of the edges of the leaves are rolled back.
Thanks!

the curled leaves would suggest a calcium defficiency, do you know the GH? or more specifically the calium/ Magnesium values?
And the yellowing could be iron and/ or magnesium
You could add some GH booster and kill two birds with one stone as it is a mixture of Calcium Sulfate, Magnesium Sulfate, Potassium Sulfate & Iron Sulfate

EDIT: Magnesium also is needed for photosynthesis so it is veery important.

Well, there is Magnesium in the CSM+B I use. Should I be dosing more of it?

I don't know the GH of my tank.

Mg should be 10ppm, there isnt usaully that much in the CSM+B, unless you have some in your water to supply the rest.
How would I test for Mg?

Thanks again for your help! I really appreciate it!

Would strip test kits be accurate for measuring Mg?

Or are strip test kits just un-accurate for anything being measured?

Thanks!

Just a thought,

I had a problem like this about six weeks ago: with leaves dying and growth slowing in much the same way as you. I replaced my strip light and the with a new one and trimed back all the dead and dying leaves the plants reacted very well to it.

Thanks for the reply!

These lights are only like 6 months old, so they should still be just fine.
