I was wondering if you can put a puffer fish in a community tank?? with out it eating my other fish or stressing them out. The reason for asking is that i really like puffer fish and i only have one fish tank which is a 30 Gal and i cannot afford another fish tank at the moment.

No you can't

Although it might work for a while, it's only a question of time until your fish become puffer food

I concure, no you can't.
Puffers need to be either alone, or with its own kind.
A frog might do...

I have a 5 gallon tank with only frogs left as they ate all the other fish and i wondered if a dwraf puffer could do.

I might, or it might not with frogs. If you don't care much about the frogs, I'd say go for it but this tank was built around the frogs so I wouldn't risk it

thank you!

what is a good size tank to have maybe one or two puffers in it?? Or do they have to be in a group??

depending on the fish in ur tank. But in most case a big no.

A dwarf puffer will be happy in a 5 gallon tank. Add 5 gallons per puffer although there is no guarantee it will work out.

Check in the oddballs forum here. There is a sticky about puffers

if the frogs ate all your other fish, then they will attempt to eat your puffer. this result in the death of both animals--the puffer from being eaten and the frog from the toxins present in the meat of all freshwater puffers.

I would say no, I have little nolage on puffers, but arn't they supose to be in brackish water. If so then they can't be kept with Frogs as the frogs won't tolarate the salt.

I do know puffers do realy need to be kept on there own.

Yvez9, why don't you care about your Frog, I have 5 ADF's and love each one very much.

The puffer fish would probally enjoy a tank with 5-10 gals. for 2. They should only be kept with their own kind. Your tank must also be filled with plants or the puffers will get stressed out. I'd be careful with getting more than 1 because one of my puffers i had killed the other one. Also, most puffers enjoy brackish water tanks but not all of them. It depends on what puffer you decide to get. I hope ur tank goes well!

dwarf puffers are fresh water. in a 10 gal when can get up to 3 but make sure its very heavily planted. otherwise a small tank with one will do. i personaly have a dp in a 2 gal and another in a 1 gal.
