Can I Do This

when i did large centrals in my 220g i had a few vieja,(blackbelt, bifat, melanarus, synspilum} a few parachromis red tiger moto, loiselli, freddy) and some amphilophus Red devil, lyonsi. as far as the convicts my experience with them was mixed they are extremely prolific and will try to breed very often and young. i personally kept my other archocentrus in different tanks because of that.

This is the kind of mix I would go for :) Really nice fish there.

I would stop worrying about mixing these fish in this size tank especially at just juvenile sizes its just not a problem IMO.

Also if your after just a CA tank Oscars are mainly SA and the Bichir is African.

Hmmm thanks for the ideas guys, Ive moved my normal cons to the tank with the pink, and the male con and female pink con are lip locking and going around in circles with eachother, should I remove him because he seems to be ramming his head into her side, hes getting a hump on his head :S
Should I leave them be?

New pics coming tomorrow, tanks a little cloud because I changed the sand.

Also I really like red devils and the blue gene dempseys, you think I could give these a go?

Defintely looking into those, now - have my cons paired?

My black male con and female pink con and brushing past eachother and staying to together and guarding the territory together, they both every now and again go into the cave together then come out?
Yesterday they had a big lip locking fight :S ?

Give me a chance please? :)

I do work from home and I tend to get caught up with the fishes, I am behind on so much work because of these little monsters in water.
I just cant get the pictures right, they always come out wrong or blurry :( Ill take a video instead.

pics! video! naow!

I would say so yes. Lip locking can sometimes be them testing each others suitability as a mate.

jdwhysky, that is an awesome picture! You have some real stunning fish mate, well done! :)

Thanks, is this breeding behaviour - the pair of cons are by a cave, the female sits outside the cave while the male keeps going in to the cave and bringing out sand?

Yep. Sounds very much like it. He is building a pit. The female will lay her eggs on a flat surface and protect them and then they move them from one pit to another until free swimming.

Thanks for the help.

Do you think I could leave the cons in there with those other fish?

Also if the female is pink and the male is black, what will the fry come out like?

Not really sure mate, maybe a percentage of each or maybe a mottled batch. :/

The other fish in your signature in the same tank are all pretty hardy, but Cons can be evil and cause some serious damage should they feel the need to. It's your call, monitor it and see what you think.

Thanks for the help, oh also sorry if im being a pest but my pink female is half blood parrot and half con, still not sure though but its definitely not 100% pink, will this make a difference?

Your fry would come out wild type. It is the dominant color. I too would like to see some pics of the 200 gallon. What's the delay? With all the posts you make, certainly you can take five minutes to take and upload a few.
