Buying plec's need advise

Hi everyone,

got a 40G just cycled after 6 weeks. current stock:

6 zebra danio
2 male guppy
2 female guppy
no fry (and not hopefull either)
currently one common plec (need to rehouse before he grows into a monster)

i want to put 2 plecs in there and like both the gold nugget and the peppermint, question is, will the two go together or will they conflict with each other??

dont want to buy both and have problems..

you shouldn't have problems aslong as there's alot of hiding places to account for both plecs.

do you realise that golden uggets get to a fair size aswell!!??

i have heard they get to 10" max and dont poo as much as the common plec's. do you think i'll have a problem with them?

as to hiding places i have 2 huge pieces of bogwood and a cave (cave was fun to build but nothing is using it... ha ha)

whats the dimensions of a tank? if your tank is heavily decorated and planted the golden nugget may find it hard to get around

still plenty of space,

tank is 101x50x41 one bogwood is standing up to make an arch so still lots of space, the other takes up 1/4 of the tank and is in the corner (shaped like a tree stump) i have 3 reed's in there and 2 ferns, nothing that takes up gravel space as such.

sounds fine to me, when i re jigged my tank i made a tad more open floor space as i have a large ancistrus in there now.

L018 gold nuggets will only grow to 6". There are other plecs that look very similar to gold nuggets that grow to 8" or so. Take a look in the fish id forum.

No You should'nt have a problem but you might have a mightly large hole in your wallet in the end!

Common plecos don't grow that fast so you shall not have to re-house him for a bit. Plecos can be terratorial but if you can combine them when they are young and provide plenty of hiding spots you should not have a problem. I have a candy striped and a common and a chocolate in teh same tank happily
