hi im about 3 years older than you and i have a idea, how about you put the betta in the bowl and try to get a 40-50 gallon . i used to have a friend that worked at petco and she had a few of those black moors she had 2 in a 50 gallon and they were happy (she had a wallet full of fishie pics lol they all looked happy, she also had a bout 12 bettas and a few random other fish ..she was a addict of bettas too she hid them in the fish counter and told people they were sick but there were a few crownies one day and she took them all LOL) she had good advice. if you have to resort to petstore help in tank sizes ask them if they have a fish of that type and make sure its the highst they say that would work best.i have a good petstore around here that gave me that tip.

Yes, that 55 gallon will work fine and dandy for your black moors. Make sure you buy a stand for that tank, too, as water ways about 5 pounds per gallon, you will need something able to hold 275 pounds at least.

The bowl is fine for the betta, get a 50 watt heater if you can and turn it on LOW for the bowl and it will make your betta very happy. Also, make sure you keep up on weekly water changes.

I would say just start hunting around for a bigger tank.
You will find one cheaper than that somewhere. See if your parents or someone will swing by the Goodwill or Salvation Army. Or hop on your bike (if you have one) and start swinging around town to various garage sales. You might not find the tank of your dreams but lots of people on this forum have found some awesome deals on great tanks.

Great for moving your betta. What's he doing? Staying out of the gravel so far?

Yep. =D Actually, I have to buy him some gravel at the petshop today. XD

And I have the pleco in the bowl with him for a little bit, not too long though, don't worry!

Yup he looks a wee bit stressed out, but in about a day or two he should start being his good old self, letting his fins open up again.

sorry but its just that a moore is a goldfish and goldfish secrete a poison that can kill other fish!
Sigh...there was a big disscussion on this earlier, in another thread, and it came to the conclusion that there is no proof. LOTS of people on this board have tropical fish with their goldfish (danios, WCMM, weather loaches, and other fish that don't mind the cooler temps) and they have never had any problems whatsoever, including me. I'll try and find the thread for you. The real reasen a pleco shouldn't be housed with goldfish is because when the pleco gets larger, he may start sucking on the goldfish for different reasens. So Dweenus, thats great that you moved him out of the tank, because he would of outgrown it anyways.

Edit: and please make sure you get that pleco out of that bowl ASAP. He would of been better off with the goldfish until you can find him a tank of his own. I see there is not filteration or airation and plecos need that, because unlike bettas they can't breath from the surface, so don't be surprised if you find a belly up pleco soon :/ If I were you I would move him back in with the goldfish, or even put him in a floating breeder trap in the goldfish tank or something.

Here's the thread: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showto...fish+slime+coat

He's moved. He changed color from black to yellow... that's strange. Also, it took forever to get him out of the bowl. lots of different sized fishnets, and he was out.

You know you can call LFS (local fish stores) and trade him in for store credits most of the time they'll do it.
