Breeding Xenotoca Variata "jeweled Goodeid"

Thank you very much Fish48! I keep all of my species of Goodeids in species only tanks and I try to get collection info. I have Xenotoca variata Zacapu and J.maria, Xenotoca eiseni not sure, and Ameca splendens not sure. I plan on keeping my Goodeids for as long as I can which I hope will be a long time! I care a lot about my fish and fish in general. I want to give them the best I can give them and keep them healthy and happy! If I do add new blood to the colonies I will for sure make sure they are the same. Thanks again! I greatly appreciate it!

Oh wow! They are beautiful fish! I would love to have some! That's great they are doing good! I was just curious what country are you from? I thought I read somewhere that you live in the UK!

That's cool! I love the UK! I have been to England,Scotland,Wales, and Ireland (I know Ireland except for Northern Ireland isn't part of the UK) twice and I would love to live over there!

lol that sounds like a plan! Sounds great! :good:

I do have some excellent news speaking of Goodeids.........One of my female X.variata Zacapu is on the verge of giving birth! She is in her own tank that I had ready. She is getting very big and I now know what to look for when they are pregnant :good:

Thank you very much! I will for sure update you guys and post videos!

Thank you very much! They are very beautiful Goodeids and I really enjoy them a lot!

My female X.variata zacapu finally started giving birth. She must have started having them during the night because I noticed them in the morning and she wasn't as big. I noticed around 5 fry already and she isn't done yet :)

Congrats Chris. Don't be too surprised if a nice goodeid does not produce the huge number of fry we are accustomed to seeing with poeciliids. A drop of 20 to 30 is quite large for them. Look at how big those fry are.
