I may not be breeding discus, but I am glad I could share this experience with you, not just by reading your story, but by having my own fish spawn as well. This is my first experience with surviving egg-layed spawn :) I am used to livebearers

DM. I am routing for your guys to make it! Please do keep sharing. Isn't it truly magical!

i didnt realize that ive been away for so long! it has taken every second of my free time over the last FOUR DAYS to play catch up with this blog! (you wish you had that much free time, dont you? lol)

anyway congrats on the fry man! who would have thought it would have taken, what did you say, 5 months to get this far?!? My next task is to hit up youtube to check out all of the vids seeing how i cant watch them here on the site

I very much look forward to watching the progress of these little guys! keep up the good work :good:

I'll keep them coming. Have been out all day today, and when I came back home I had lost a few fry

Don't know if they died and were eaten, but they have vanished. I think there are about 30 left now. Just got to get them through the weekend and then they should be big enough to eat newly hatched brine shrimp. Here's hoping

Sadly we lost a lot of the fry through the night. I suspect that they died and were then eaten by the parents, as I found a few dead ones in the tank this morning. So now there are only a dozen left

I guess only the strong survive! If these guys can make it past the weekend and are ready to eat baby brine shrimp, then I will remove them and grow them on. That way the parents can have another go at spawning.

Gutted for you mate

One of these days your luck is bound to change!

Still have some left, so not done yet. I might plumb the RO unit into the tank for the next batch, and run it with a 70/30 mix to help the young guys. Maybe the neat tap water was a bit harsh for them
