After deciding to no longer save fry & let them take their chances in the main tank, I changed my mind today.
One of my females dropped about a week ago, but I hadn't seen any fry all week, so assumed nature had taken it's course.
Just now, was checking temps as it's so cold tonight,I spotted one tiny fry bravely swimming around at the front of the tank dodging the adults
I decided he/ she deserved a chance so managed to scoop him up & put him in my fry tank.
I swear he's swimming lengths now shouting "I'm safe, I'm safe"

Yes, guppy fry, I have about 20 in my fry tank now, from several drops

I have decided that, since this is my first guppy drop, I will be trying to save as many as I can.

It is really hard to watch them get eaten when look so adorable, isn't it!

aaiiieeehhhh!!! Go Go Little Swimmer!!!
I swear my husband shouted something like that lol. My son's name is Vincent. He is 6  j/k

We had a fry that my husband called "Slim" he was the lone survivor and he is about 6 months old now and still lives in my tank.

I've got 3 little fry in my tank that survived my last drop. Still struggling to net them. I have 2 preggo females so I may try to save at least 5 Molly fry and just net up the platy fry I see.

Yesterday I just hauled off and bought a bigger net. It makes it much easier to catch the shrimp and quick little fry.

I actually bought a smaller net because I can never get behind my decorations. It works better for me. It's just that he always darts off into the one place he knows I can't get him. Doesn't he know I'm trying to put him with his own kind where he'll eat fry food????? ???

That's why I got a smaller net too. It's a pain trying to catch the little things.
My platy gave birth a few days ago and I had no intention of saving them as I have enough guppy fry growing, but then I couldn't resist and decided to save only one. This morning, when I was feeding it, there was a second fry hiding between the breeder box and the tank glass, so this one had to be saved too.... I have over 40 guppy fry different ages, different mothers and drops and getting a third tank this Saturday. I keep telling myself not to save any....

I tried the hard approach on the birthing yet again with our molly who came to us pregnant, the first time was good, went and bought the net, etc etc, it didn't work...she's had her 3rd lot yesterday and at least 16 of them are happily swimming around.....I'm starting to think she only had the one on her second go...the other fish don't bother at all, one of the gourami's did have a nibble at one and spat it as far away as could when realised it was wiggling.... :hyper:

I've got a pregnant one right now :) both platy and Molly. :) the Molly appears about 3-7 days away and the platy 5-10. I want to save the Molly fry but not the platy fry. Already got too many orange platy fry. Last week I bought some fish and a gray fry got netted with them. I can't wait to find out what he is.

Thats good you gave him a chance to live. :D
