Oh and ime i have found that the wood i find at the beach is too soft for aquariums. Find a nice big oak tree and find a branch that looks like its been dead for a while. Bark will be peeling up all over it. Break it off or cut whichever is easier and cut down to size. Peel the bark off and soak it for a couple weeks and then anchor it in your tank. My big stick took a month and i dont need an anchor it will lay ob the bottom if i want it to . Just a hint. The hardwood works best so it wont decay in your tank nearly as fast. Can use branches from fruit trees also i hear. Main thing again is patience my dear!!!

I am the same way. Want it perfectly the way i have it in my head. Never turns out that way. Lol ;)

the stuff you find at the beach (once it dries) is great decoration around the tank. My gf had an old fishing net we hung behind my 55 when it was upstairs and hung the wood from it. With sone shells and stuff. Looked very fitting to the setup. Nice nautical theme :)

This is funny bc I actually watched that exact video about a week ago. and apparently i was distracted bc i missed a lot of it. Pretty sure I have two females haha. thanks bigfish ;)

i guess it doesn't really matter as long as they get along. I would like a male, their fins get nice and flowy :)

I see your point. Kinda weird how in the animal world the males are the pretty ones huh!! Then you could have babies too. That would be pretty cool. Dont think they would last long in my tank with all the fish that i have!!! :) Dont think they would fit in much either. Beautiful fish though!!!

lol it is funny. I would like to have babies, it would be fun. i want my cories to spawn too, but i dont think the eggs would make it, but with rams they protect the eggs and babies so they would atleast have a shot... they are beautiful, i really like them a lot. Got my first crypt plant today. It was potted so it took it apart and holy cow, there were a million little crypts everywhere! good thing Im going to move some stuff around this weekend bc it just looks messy now :p  I was almost tempted to spend an extreme amount of money on ebay for driftwood last night  it just seems kind of crazy though... its just wood lol. I keep hoping ill stumble upon an awesome root piece or something someday.... sigh...

Oh i know about the wood thing. I found a piece that i loved at the lfs and it was seventy bucks!!! And the stupid thing is that it would look tiny in my tank!!! Have found pieces i like online but its like fifty bucks still... Oh well. I like my branches just fine. Cant wait to get some more plants. My clowns keep digging up my pennywort and my wisteria.. Little devils

i knowww. A part of me is trying to convince myself to just spend the money but i just can't lol. i went into this weird lfs that ive never been in before to get those plants. It was so weird in there, hardly any dead fish, which was nice to see but just weiiirrd. All of the tanks were tiny little 10 gallons, and the way they were set up made it looked like this lady was a tank hoarder then just decided to bring them all in one day. each tank had dif gravel and a random plant in it. There were no prices or organization to anything, it was strange. Even more strange was that she had so many different types of cories, i couldn't believe it.  The lady was so crabby too. When i got out to my car my 3 yr old was like " jeeze, i didn't like that crabby old lady!!" hahaha...

I just figured out why my java fern looks funny. Because there are like fifty plants starting off the leaves!! Guess i will have to pull it out and trim it up!!!

Just be glad that you have a lfs besides petsmart and petco.. I wish we had the same around here. Closest one is about an hr away. Best one i have seen is preusspets in lansing about an hr and a half away!!! Oh well. Maybe she was having a bad day?

Another side note... Getting tired of replanting my plants!!! Grr lol

Oh no, shes just mean and old lol but oh well i guess. i can't wait for my javas to take off, they're still new looking.. i have petco here in town and their tanks are like germ pools, gross and sad. petsmart is about 30 minutes and theres a small town shop right around the corner from there. Tomorrow we're going for a drive and I conveniently found a couple fish shops along the way to try out     It was great to see that there was atleast a lfs in my town that had some good plants, even if a little pricey. I could always just stop in every once in a while and pick one up here and there... even if i have to deal with the grouchy lady ;)

i know what you mean about the replanting... i love putting new plants in, but after replanting them all 5x each, i can come down in the morning and let a couple words fly when i see a couple floating haha. not as bad as when all my driftwood kept floating though, that was a nightmare. Speaking of driftwood, wouldnt it be awesome to find the perfect piece in a new shop tomorrow... hmm....

Well good luck on your new adventure!!! And speaking of not wanting to spend a lot... Next week when my tax check comes in im buying a fluval fx5 for my tank.... 270.00! Ouch.... But at almost a thousand gallons per hour it will be worth it!!! Well im off to work now... Hope that you find something good. Maybe ill take some money down and buy that piece i liked... Im sure its still there.. Ha!!!

It will be worth it, what a great turnover.. Ill be happy to find a smaller cave piece today, but when/if i sell my old tank, Im going to put the money towards an awesome gnarly piece. I think it's what my tank needs, and if I get the right piece, i think ill be able to get loaches..   Off to explore :)

My 2 baby albino bn's are pretty awesome. Ill take some pics tonight once they settle down and pic a spot lol they're all over the place. Hopefully they clean up my tank pretty fast, these diatoms have a slime covering everything! and it seems like the broken down food is just sticking to everything, kinda giving me the heebie-jeebies lol
