Boita Compatibility

Lot's of ice fishing around here too, Ive yet to go though. We do a lot of snowmobiling when the weather is good though, which is another thing about these past two winters.. If it snows, it's dreadful outside, then it rains and the snow is slush. blah!

Yea, Im seriously considering setting up my 10 gallon....

COUGH COUGH.... take a look :D

:yahoo: Yup, went out yesterday and got the piece I had been eyeing, plus the second longer one too lol. I thought the long one would be cool coming off the top of the hill.  It felt so much better to spend the tank money, somehow I convinced myself that it wasn't "regular" money hahha.  Super excited, hopefully i get that in the tank tonight :) I have to be careful bc Its going to be a tight fit, i will probably have to make a couple modifications :/

I also went to another fish store, which was pretty great.  The plants he had were soo cheap; crispus $1.98, crypts $2.98 and a bunch of dif. kinds. so naturally, i bought a whole bunch. All of his fish were really healthy too, the cories all had super long barbels, and he had little baby pygmies!! If i didn't have a pictus to worry about eating them all i would have bought the whole tank   So needless to say, I think i will designate that place as my only go to fish store, besides petsmart.

It was a pretty exciting day lol

a store :) .... yes i spent money on wood, it seems silly i know but I needed a pick-me-up and Ive been eyeing this piece for over a month now. Couldn't get it out of my mind, so i went for it :)

I bought 3 pieces of wood from the store, two are the smaller rooty woods and one looks like a larger piece I've found at the water here before but I needed a larger piece to die java fern to.

Honestly, if I saw a root like that at the store I'd buy it, I dont care if its $100 theres so much you can do with something like that

I know, i absolutely love it. It was $60, which yes is a bit of money, BUT.. Ive been looking for a while now and Ive seen reg. blocky pieces go for much more than that, and it is perfect for my tank...Im pretty excited. plus my shipment of plants just came in an hour ago, a whole day early. :D

WOW i'm really jealous!

those are very beautiful! it wont be too long and I can pick up stuff like that. and sixty bucks is not bad at all. you did really good! I cant wait to see how it looks in your tank!

And your right, i sold one of my 29gals for 20.00 and thats not regular money, thats fish money! my girlfriend said that it could be lunch money, I said no.. its fish stuff for fish stuff baby!! so I have another 20 to get some more albino barbs when the time comes. dont think I should fit 7 more in there with the 7 new ones. might be cramped for new fish. wish i had somewhere like that around me!

Oh and all my meijer fish are doing really good surprisingly! none even are acting weird. maybe they have better barbs than petsmart...

How big is that large root?  Something like that would probably go for close to $150 here, depending on the size.  The wood I bought from the store was all about $30 each and they're nowhere near that size

It's about 17"L x 18"H x and after some modifications, i HOPE it's 12" in depth lol. Ill get it in there.  It's a pretty substantial piece, I was really surprised to find it a month ago and then even more surprised when I saw the price. I can never even find driftwood around here, let alone awesome stuff like this  ...still REALLY excited lol

Fish money, that's right! lol You sold a 29 gallon for just $20??? Silly NY, that would be so much more here...

Good to hear the albinos are doing good! Cant wait to see them in the big tank, what a cool contrast...

It was to my girlfriends son... He needed it for a water dragon. Stand and tank only. Was fair price to him. Sells for a hundred here on craigslist.. His kids will enjoy it more than my storage room will... If i can talk the misses into letting me set up manother tank it will be my 55 gal. This spring i am tearing out a smaller oak tree by the big pond. Maybe i will be able to salvage a nice section of roots off that. Then it will be a total rescape for me!!! But i cant take the fish out for it really. Will only stress them out a little. Im pretty much down to java fern moss and my anubias in my main tank. The loaches have made swiss cheese of my pennywort and keep chewing the stems of my wisteria. Just a warning for you since you want some polkadots.... They like the plants! But dont touch the three i listed.. Haha. Pretty frustrating. The pieces i salvaged are now all in my qt or growout tank i now call it...

It was my first time ice fishing last weekend. Cant really say its my kind of fishing... Will stick to summer fishing i think!

I cant wait to put the albinos in my main tank either. Will be awesome. Especially with flat black for the background. Think im gonna take my fake plants out. Will show off the fish more

thats what im down to now. Just the really tall ones lrft and a couple smaller fakies . Then to spread out the java fern. Think i will take out the stick on the right and tie a bunch of small ones on and see how that goes. Gotta tie it good. The tigers untied all my other knots.. Ha

Oops.. Double posted picture... Dang phone

I swear the tigers like to cause trouble... untying knots.... hehe.

Yeah, i like to be outside in the winter, but ice fishing? idk.. prolly not for me lol

Well that was nice to sell your tank to the kid, Im sure he'll get more enjoyment out of it, and it's always good to give a kid a hobby, that's for sure.

Oak trees have great root structures, so you should be able to get something pretty cool, if you can get it out of the ground. You'll probably have to dig down and use a sawzall to cut it out depending on how big the tree is.

Loaches eat plants,

uh oh....  Im sure my bunch will be very polite and leave my plants alone...

I know what you mean about rescaping, just taking the large stones out of my tank, i thought my angelfish was going to kill herself. Im kind of hesitating taking the old wood out and putting the new stuff in, they're all going to be so mad with me lol....

update: I think I may have or may be on the verge of kicking the ick's but. There's none on my little barbs and i think my rummynose are all clean, they're much much better to say the least. Im going to keep dosing and dosing though just to make sure. But atleast it looks promising.

Ive been thinking about going with the black background again too. I really hate mine, but i like the blue color to it.. i wish i could find a nice relaxing blue color and not a crazy bright blue one... sigh.

Its really not for me. If i'm enjoying being outside in the winter i'm moving a lot so I stay warm.... lol

i'm pretty sure I will find something good under that tree. we have to go down a bit to get a good part of the roots up, will be doing it with a back hoe, hopefully it dont tear it up too bad. then I will hang it out to dry. worst part about it is waiting till next year to put it in. :( oh well. maybe i'll go out and buy a piece in the mean time.

Congrats on kicking icks butt. lol keep on dosing for a week or so then you should be fine to bring temps back down and stop dosing

We just picked up our cat from the vet. he is now an indoor cat, declawed and fixed. He likes it more inside than out anyways! so he will be good. I really really like the black background, i just painted mine i like it so much.. ha. if i change it it wil be like a midnight blue, fading down to black or something. gotta keep a dark background though, keeps the focus on the fish. :)

yeah my pennywort is looking pretty pathetic today! so yeah. that plant wont survive long i'm sure, but they will in my little tank. ha

and hes not much of a kid anymore. like 21 and has his own kids.. lol

any ideas what could be coming from my plecos gills? whiteish stuff and it looks like sand stuck to it also. he has flicked off the rocks a couple times last night, looks a little better tonight but still there....

posted in the pleco area but no answer, do you have any ideas? maybe he just had a cold.. one side is completely back to normal but the left side is still funny looking.

I saw your post before, and was hoping someone would know what it is. Ive been trying to do some research but can't really come up with anything. Doesn't look like a fungus, if any maybe something bacterial? I'm not sure. I would try re-posting in the emergency section, people there tend to help a lot faster. Ive posted stuff in the pleco forum too and no one ever responded lol

Well it is completely gone and there are a couple new bristles that look a little diff than the rest. Maybe its his defence ones. Have heard they are sharp. I have decided to call him stubby. Its like a stubby beard.. Ha.

yeah i'm pretty sure it was just sand stuck in his gills, he seems to be doing just fine. no more flashing or anything. New tigers are doing great. thinking about putting them in the main tank this weekend. Need to go pick up some plexiglass soon, i was cleaning the tank and kicked over my glass lid. 37"X18" of glass shattered across my floor. was not too happy. luckily i had some glass laying around from a tank i dismantled and cut some pieces up to cover it for now. but i worry about the moisture going between the cracks and getting to my light since they are shop lights not fish lights.. lol oh well i guess it will be ok! :) just dont have the fifty bucks right now to spend on the piece of acrylic that i need..

How is your new wood doing? get it in the tank yet? or still soaking it? It looked pretty dry so it might take a couple weeks to get it to where it sinks. Cant wait to see it its going to look amazing when your done. now see if i didnt break my lid i would have the money to get driftwood! ha.. oh well. :)
