Blood Worms

I have been feeding frozen blood worms to my 12" ghost knife and (2) 10" rope fish every night. I am starting to wonder if a large can of dried blood worms might be cheaper in the end. Any stores where I can get it cheap? I would be ordering online. I have to order other stuff too so I would order enough of everything to make shipping worth my while.

There's a few brands for dried bloodworm. A small can from Tetra is I think $2 or $3, a bit more for better brands, and it'll last a long time if you're only feeding once or twice a week. I get much better results with frozen than dried, though - many of my fish barely touch the dried stuff. I also use Wardley's tubifex cubes. I've had better results with that than dried bloodworm, it costs $6.

i think frozen and dried bloodworms are hard to feed to fish that dont come up to the surface. my bottom feeders never get to taste the bloodworms...but my community fish love them, i just wish there was a way to get them to sink

The freeze-dried cubes WILL sink if you squeeze all of the air from them...

i defrost the frozen(and soak the dried) in a little cup of tank water for 5 minutes before putting them in.They sink straight down

I don't even bother with dried and just go for frozen. I thaw it in a cup of tank water for a few mins then pour in to the tanks. Some float, most sink so everyone is getting some.

wierd bloodworms always sink, maybe its the water flow, or maybe there just not bloodworms
