Hi
One of our Pandas has a bloodworm sticking out its gill, he's not attempting to shift it, but other cory's have had a tug.

Should we be concerned??

Thanks

Whoh.... I've never seen such a thing but I suppose it does happen. Not being an expert I'm not inclined to give advice. But if it was one of mine the first thing I'd do (after posting on fishforums, of course) would be to determine if the fish was showing signs of distress which yours seems not to be. I'd probably just leave it be except that the other corys are pulling on it. If you have a way to isolate him from the others until you can get some expert opinion I'd suggest doing that. If another cory pulls too hard, it may damage the patient's gills which is NOT good.

Good luck.

Thanks

One of the sterbai had the same thing? Weird cus we'd never seen anything like it before. The sterbai has shifted his. I think it started cus two pandas were fighting over the last worm.
He's in his cave at present and the others are leaving him alone. He's not showing signs of distress so i guess we'll leave him.

Thanks

Glad it all worked out. I hope you gave them a stern lecture on chewing their food thoroughly before swallowing :)

Cheers.

LOL, they do get a bit excited with bloodworm. This morning the panda is fine, swimming around with the others.

I guess it might be something that happens, but we normally put the worm in and go to bed. Just last night we were giving the bettas some as well and like to watch them to make sure one doesn't wolf down too many.

In total, 2 panda's and 1 sterbai had them through their gills. It might be the way they suck them up like spaghetti???

Anyway, alls well

Thanks guys

Hi

No they are frozen ones not freeze dried. It really was quite bizarre.....never seen that happen before.

I have heard of it. Especially with little piggy Betta. But I have never experienced it.

Hi
In total 1 sterbai and 2 pandas had the problem. The sterbai and one panda shifted theirs last night. The other panda had shifted his overnight :good: Geo7x has said its common amongst corys.
The only thing is, the one panda is acting strange. He swims about with the others, then stops, tilts to the side, stays there for 5/10 seconds and then just swims off again???
Could the pulling by the others have caused any damage??

I personally can't believe no on else has experienced this :S I've never experienced cories get a worm stuck, however mine are constantly chucking them through their gills as they try to eat as fast as they can. Has happened with a BBG though and I netted it and got it out with tweezers and it was fine.

Hi geo7x

Do you think it could have damaged anything??

Cheers

I'm not sure, there is always the possibility of course like anything else. I would just see how it goes over the next couple of days.

OK thanks geo7x

Yeh, he seems fine in all other aspects. In fact i think this behaviour is getting less.

Thanks

geo7x I remember someone in the Betta forum pulling something with tweezers successfully. Was that you?
