Is there a picture or something on the back of the tank to give the fish the feeling of a solid wall?
If not, add a backing to the tank. Apart from that the tanks seem to be in a good position (3ft off the ground) and in a room you visit regularly.

I think there's plenty of hiding spots in the tank and there's certainly more cover than I had in my tanks.

You probably have a shy female or she wants to breed. Most female A. cacatuoides don't spend all day out in the open, the males do but the females are homely fish and like to tend house rather than be out in the open partying. You could try offering different foods and feeding more often to encourage them out. I wouldn't worry too much as long as she is eating well.

I like the set up too. I saw a lot of females when I kept them, but sometimes that's just tank placement, lighting, or any of a host of variables. Maybe the lower quality lighting we had just before leds hit contributed.

It could be. I only had an 18watt fluoro on my tanks. Not as much light as a modern LED would provide.

I keep a daily diary on each of my active tanks. The last time I saw a female was June 16. My LED lights are on a dim setting and are only active from 0800-1400.

Is she still alive?
2 weeks is a long time for her not to show herself. Even if she had eggs they would hatch after a few days and the fry would be out of the cave a week after that.

She has disappeared in the past for that length of time but she could be dead this time. No body found.

When I get too much hiding, I take the tank apart and rescape it. That permits me to see if I've lost any of the cryptic fish. At times, it's allowed me to find secretive juveniles.

If everyone is well, a second trick can be to remove the males and switch them to see what happens.
