Indeed, wild fish were also being "vacuumed" up from rivers and streams to provide raw material for the fertilizer.
Thats just wrong. No point wasting perfectly good fish when we have BP's that'll do the job nicely.
ROTFLMAO    , that is evil but very funny DG.

another truely evil thing..... get a nice mean cichlid the kind like smb has( who has also inspired me to go on my crusade to get my dream fish but enough beating a dead horse) and use them for teething toys like a little puppy. but also like smb said I could really care less what a person keeps. we are all here for pretty much the same reason to gain knowlege on the fish that we have.

>>>
so are we saying then that we cant buy these fish as its cruel the way they are bred and dyed?
yet we can put the ones that havent died during the process thro a grinder?
<<<

 No! Not at all!!! What I was pointing out was what DOES happen, not what should! What should happen is there should be no demand for these poor things then the rejects wouldn't be going to wood chippers.

I think you should take some of the other comments with a pinch of salt, (although not if you keep Cory's!).

well it was actually DG i think that said put them thro a grinder..

but anyway all this parrot hating makes me like mine even more i feel quite motherly and protective over mine now

There are certainly people who think they are ugly, but then a lot of people keep ugly fish - taste thing really.

Most responsible aquarists hate them because of what they represent - cruelty, inhumanity and money grabbing, blood sucking, parasitic breeders.

You've got yours now, the damage is already done so there's no point harking on. Good luck with them, and enjoy them.

well its how we define ugly really isnt it? we cant all like the same thing and thats what makes us different,

i can see what you are saying tho lateral line i think your comments are just and i can also see that the more of these fish that we buy the more are being made thats obvious to anyone.
however these fish are made now and are in the lfs and deserve to live and be loved,
as i said before its not their fault they're here its the humans that have done this to them that we should be hating not the poor fish.

you cant hate the fish
hate the people that make them if you wish, but dont blame the fish

and new boy, - i'll reply to anyone regardless of what fish they keep :)

right.....what i dont agree with is.....when some1 posts sayin they got this fish n then some1 else comes on and says ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh no u shouldnt buy them fish.....theyre all deformed....they cant eat proper......they have deformed spines.....they cant swim and have to fight for food.......most dont have tails....and theyre dyed.........thats what really gets my back up

how do they know what the other persons fish is like?

ive got parrots and not 1 is dyed.....they all have tails.....they all swim proper.....they feed a lot better than most of my other fish and they dont have any deformitites

i think ppl should be able to speak their own mind.....and have their own opinions....but to come on and say all that without knowin the full story can be quite intimidating i think

Cheers CFC.

I havent been round to reply.

I was the only one mentioning sending BP's to the grinder.

As you say, hate the people who created these godless creatures. So to make amends, we'll do away with the lot. And i HATE BP's (for the record).

I'll tell you the main reason why i hate them. I was reading a BP dedicated page and this writer was going on about them. Then she showed a pic of one of the parent fish (from which the BP is created) and she started this original fish is ugly and bland and not an attractive fish to have, so buy a BP because they are more colourful.

(BTW anyone got any BP's going spare? My lawn is looking a bit brown :D Thats a joke!!!)

First, its not the parrots we are discussing. Its whats done to them. You probably have have un altered parrots, which no one is disputing. Blood parrots are dyed red. Blood parrots are ALWAYS dyed red.

Second, no one is saying all parrots are dyed dyed, don't have tails, don't eat proper and so on. What we are saying, is by purshasing dyed fish, or any other altered fish, you are supporting an industry that thrives on animal cruelty. You might not agree with it, you might not know it, or you are trying to "save" the fish. But in the end, you are only hurting other helpess fish by saving those one or two at your lfs. When you buy the fish, doesn't matter if its to save the fish or to roast it over an open flame and feed it to your dog, as along as you pay for the fish they dont care. They will buy more, to make more.

FACT
The majority of the damage has already been done to the fish by the time it is at the LFS.

FACT
The only real way to save the fish, is to demand that your LFS stop selling altered fish and boycott shops that do sell them. Eventually, if enough people do there will be no demand for them and people will stop harming helpless creatures.

if blood parrots were able to mate (and reading some stuff on the net....some ppl say they have breeding pairs) then would it be okay?

coz they'd no longer be man made.....okay originally they would....but would it be like a whole new proper species of fish?

I think there are 2 separate issues going on here.
kimmyfishy you have already said that you are not against hybrids as you have them yourself, its the dying issue that your against?
well i think i can speak for teknikz as well as myself when i say that neither of us agree with dying the fish in any way, teknikz has also posted a topic where he has written to pets at home complaining about the practice.
my parrot fish is undyed has a tail and no problems eating so therefore is 1 of the unalterd fish you mention,
also you may be saying its not the fish that are hated, its whats done to them and thats fair enough, but i think you will see if you read back other people have indeed said they hate the fish.

Blood parrots, are kinda like people with massive tattoos all over their body. If you have a massive tattoo, and your mate has a massive tattoo your children wont have a massive tattoo when it is born. The dye isn't in the fish's DNA, so it cant be passed on by it's offspring. If you have to blood parrots pair, you would get normal parrot offspring.

To Kay_W
I am against hybrid fish that affect the way they function (No fins, tails etc). But fish that are mated to give a little bit of extra color, without harming the fish, imo, is alright.

I suppose if people don't like the fish they don't like the fish. Don't let them discourage you because I am sure whoever doesn't like parrots have some fish you wouldn't like
