i sometimes get free fish( i once caugh one with my bare hands! luky!) from my grand dad. I caught 2 a few years ago and one day i noticed i didnt have what i thought was a black more. instead i had 2 beautiful fantails... how did that happen?

maybe your grandad put them in the pond. i wouldnt sugest catching fish with your bare hands.even less if your just going to put them back in the pond.id think its very stressful on the fish. :/ :D

Black is a very unstable color and most often they will lose it and become orange or white but it would still have the same telescope eyes.

o sorry devil238.we all do things we shouldnt when we was younger :/ i can think of a few :X
ye if they were goldfish they would have changed colour as they get older, have no idea why they do this, i may make a thread on this actully. :D

Black moores are crossed with the gold telescope to keep the shape of the fish. The all black fish you see are usually higher quality and well bred.
The gold you see coming through is the dominant gold gene winning over the black of lesser selected fish.
