What causes my 2 fish to get shiny scales, the black moor is new and didn't have them when I got him, but now he does, just 1 shiny scale, after about 3 days. My fantail has 5-6. Ammonia and nitrites are low, almost 0. they are in a 40g tank. thanks

My molly has a few shiny scales as well. Are your fish acting any different? My dalmation molly seems to be just fine. I think she is pregnant though. I don't know why she has shiny scales.

Does it look white in between the scales.

My molly is a dalmation molly so she naturally has black and white spots, but her shiny scales are more of a silver color. I think I've even seen one in the gravel. It looked like a black and white scale on the bottom of my tank.

No it isn't white or anything, it's just kinda silvery shiny. She acts fine, just wondering what caused it.

Now he is covered in white fluffy stuff, on both sides. I have been treating for ich for 2 days now, but I think I need something else. After looking in the disease topic above I am going to buy some kind of bacterial medication, cause the stuff is fluffy, cottony looking, not really dots like ick is described.

You will need a fungus treatment, if you have no scaaless fish add some salt to the tank, also you can do a salt bath on the fish for a couple of days.
