Okay so I noticed about a week or two ago that Deiter's tail fin looked a lot shorter than it used to be. He has no sharp decorations in his tank and his tail actually looked as if chunks were bitten out of it. A few days later, I noticed Cotton Candy's tail was the same. I remember hearing about parrots biting their feathers out when they are bored? So I was thinking I should get them a tankmate or something? But I have no clue what to get. They are both in 10 gallons. One has a 20 gallon modified filter and the other just has a small bubble stone.

Any ideas on what I should get? I was thinking about maybe just some ghost shrimp. I wouldn't mind if they ate them, it'd be good for their diet. What do you think? Any other ideas?

im looking into the same thing for a 10 gallon tank, and have been suggested either shrimp, snail, or maybe some corys, so think im going to try a few corys.

hope this helps

How aggressive are they? If they are fairly mild boys, you can probably add an ADF to keep the company. Many of mine seem to like frogs...and not in the "gee, I wonder if I can get that whole frog into my mouth" sort of way.

They aren't all that aggressive actually. Cotton Candy is really passive, another male jumped the divider into his side and he didn't even bother him. Just kind of swam around him and checked him out and then swam away. I looked at ADFs today but they didn;t have any in stock. I am going to a different pet store tomorrow, so hopefully they will have 2 or 3. Do ADF's do better in pairs or groups or single? :dunno:

They do okay singly, but I'd really recommend you get 2-3. They LOVE each other's company, and you'll often find them all piled up in one corner, on top of each other.
