Dont normally come to this section but I just read through this whole thread and I have to say what an impressive journey! I have huge admiration for anyone doing salt as it seems so difficult to me - seems like your back to enjoying your tank now which is fantastic :)

Thanks for the support, Willis.  There's certainly been ups and my share of downs.  This Green Hair Algae battle has been some kind of frustrating.  I don't even want anyone seeing my tank right now, but hopefully soon I can get this all behind me.

I may try dosing some magnesium, but I want to do some more reading on it before I do that.

My Yellow Tang was nowhere to be found at feeding tonight......  quite unsettling.  Water parameters are all good.  I hope he's just takin er easy somewhere.

I've also had to deal with a few aiptasia growing.  Hope I've caught that, I really don't feel like another outbreak of some pests.

Regular Mg won't work.  It has to be kent tech M.  You also need to raise the levels by 100ppm with each dose (applying it directly to the hair via turkey baster works best).  I wouldn't exceed 2100ppm.  It also only works on bryopsis.  If its not bryopsis it wont kill it.  You can use this to help calculate the amount you need to use to raise it by a desired amount  http://reef.diesyst.com/chemcalc/chemcalc.html

The stuff I got is Kent Tech M.  I don't think I am dealing with Bryopsis anyway....

I only bought that stuff once and it was to get rid of bryopsis,  Stuff very watered down, almost not ever worth buying for any other reason other than to remove bryopsis.

If you don;t have bryopsis then Mg won't do anything about it.

It doesn't seem to progressing any further.  The spots it is growing is getting quite thick, though.  I think I am going to do some manual removal tonight, followed by a small water change to try and siphon out excess GHA floating around.  Repeat in a few days, and see where I am at.

Sadly, my Yellow Tang is still nowhere to be found.  The YT is always the first up and swimming around early in the morning and nothing so far.  I can't see him anywhere in his usual caves and hang outs.  If something did happen I don't think it would take long for the CUC to make him vanish.  I'm starting to fear the worse.  Just doesn't make sense, he appeared to be such a healthy fish, amazing color, and very active.  Fingers crossed I'm just being paranoid.

Went over to take a closer look at my new house and it looks like I will not have the room I thought I did for my sump.  So instead of turning my current display tank into my new sump, I will be building an entire sump from scratch......  should be interesting to say the least

Building sumps are easy, J ust never found a place to get glass cut XD

Im going to buy large sheets of acrylic and cut my own pieces.  Just want to come up with the right design for everything I need.

acrylic? Oh well, At least its doable that way. My sumps used with glass :p

I think with a little patience, and some tools you can do anything with acrylic.  I'm just having no luck at all finding the right acrylic and weld on solvent.

I feel like I've been making some progress with my GHA so I decided to post an updated photo taken today.  You even get a glimpse of both foxfaces ;)

Thanks Techen.  The right side is ahead of the left as you can see in the pict.  Soon everything in this tank will be going into my sister's who will be taking care of everything until my new tank/sump is ready, so I'll have a lot on the go in the near future.  I'm glad things are getting under control tho.
