alright, iv had the 2 fish together for a while but they are acting werid. the female goes under the cup and is building the nest, and the male is in the corner scared to death. the female as a few nips in here from chaseing him but he doesn't seem like he wants to breed. he'll come out and chase her when she gets too close but he has made no real effort to spawn -_- he is definately a male, and she is definately a female, is there anything i can do to get him going? or should i try another pair?

Now iv got a few fry questions:

when do i starte feeding the fry?

can they eat BBS right away?

i dont have my MW culture any more, what else can i feed them if the BBS is too big for them?

Personally, I would scrap this effort and try again later. Do you have another male you could breed?

Fry need to be fed when they can swim on their own.

I have heard both that people start BBS right away and that BBS are too big (from different sources, of course) Hard boiled egg yolk ground to a fine powder is the food of choice for Thai breeders, but that messes the water pretty bad and you'll need to watch out for that.

Here is a site that goes pretty well into the different types of food

I would go ahead and pull the female and hope the male got his manhood back. Maybe a few days exploring the tank alone will help is self esteem. She, on the other hand, sounds ready

Yes, fry can eat bbs right away. I start feeding it to them at day two of freeswimming.

ok thanx for answering my questions guys, its much appritiated.

well, after and hour or 2 of being a wuss, the male desided he was gunna be an asshoel and attack the female. i know they get nipped up during spawning, but he was going after her guys and takeing body shots on her, i pulled the girl and put her in another tub in view of the male, maybe i can get him to build a nest if the female isn't in there scareing him. -_- if this doesn't work iv got another pair id like to try ;)

alright iv had the pair in 2 seperate tubs viewing eachother for a couple days now since the first try. the male has built a small nest and now seems interested in mateing, they female also seems interested, but when i released her, she went up to his nest and destroyed it! the male isn't happy but he seems to be createing a new one, and the female appears to be helping. hopefully i can get something to happen this time

I feed fry from the day I remove the male BBS (mixed with greenwater for the smaller ones) but in doing this you have to remember that the fry are small enough that one BBS is a full meal, and for the first week or so to give light feeding when you feed
