i have some betta fry about a week old and wanted to know when i should start giveing flakes or if there is anything else i can feed them they are on bbs at the moment.

cheers

ooo and does anyone know where i can get some crown tailed male bettas from in northamptonshire uk?

I would suggest not using the flakes, 'cause no betta I've ever heard of has ever taken to flakes :grr: My suggestion would be to try feeding him/her/they bio-glold pellets. Yes, it's about $7 per packet, but the fish seem to like them :) But that's just my suggestion. Good luck! ;)

week old fry should idealy be on live food. micro worms and vinegar eels come to mind. BBS are also ok, just don't overfeed them or you risk swim bladder problems. egg yolk is also recommended in a pinch. usually at about three to four weeks of age we will switch them to grindel worms and start feeding pellets (but, make sure you smash them into tiny pieces first, put some in a folded piece of paper and smash with hammer). we have never used flakes with any of our bettas, it's either pellets, frozen or live. ;)
