Since you are in the UK, you can't get antibiotics without a vet's prescription. The best medication available is eSHa 2000 or perhaps Waterlife's Myxazin.

GH is very hard (no exact number, I think it was around 9 last time I checked?).

GH 9 is not hard, it'sthe top end of soft. Can you look on your water company's website for hardness, please. There are only 3 companies which don't give a number (Northumbrian, Essex & Sussex, and Welsh Water) so you should be able to find a number - and the unit of measurement.

The Ph in British water is 8.5, that is why it is so high.

Not everywhere in the UK has pH this high. I don't (pH 7.5) and many regions have pH below 7.
