Best Tropical Fish For A Noob ?

im thinking of getting a fish box i think its maybe 70 litres or so.
hmm i like danios they are hardy too arent they?

i like the idea of sand

so my stocking yet is this from what i gathered
a betta fish, a group of 6 neons,2 danios,3 guppies,and maybe coreys 2.

or is this a overstock? for 70 to 80 litres?

is that ok ?
It's not overstocked exactly, but it's a horrible mismatch! I honestly think you should make a choice between the guppies and the betta; it's just not fair on the fish, IMO; they could get terribly injured or even killed if it goes wrong.

Same with the neons and danios; they both need shoals of 6+ and you'll be far better off with more of one species than bits and bobs of different ones. Danios are too active for a 70l anyway; they need a 3 foot+ tank to be able to 'stretch their fins' properly.

Corydoras need to be in shoal of 6+ for them to feel happy and secure.

For a 70l, I'd do something like a betta, 6 or 8 rasboras and 6 or 8 pygmy cories.

ok its final the betta idea has got to go i want a nice varied tank and the betta cuts down on options if i have it lol.

im looking for vast colour so i guess guppies and neons may do well. ????

withthe betta out of the way what colourfull fish would you suggest that get on and also find readily at an average LFS.

im soo new to the relationships in fish.
thank you

If you are giving up on the betta (you may want to reconsider, they are lovely) guppies are your best bet for color. I also think rummynose tetras and galaxy rasboras are quite pretty. Avoid serpae tetras. They are pretty, but I have a school that are so aggressive that almost nothing can be kept with them.
