Just had a thought.

I've justed booked to go away and get married. we'll be away for 2 weeks and wondering the best way to keep the fish alive.

I have a timer for the light so thats not a prob but i don't know what to do about feeding. Do i get a auto feeder or a holiday block?

I'm sure some of you guys go on holiday and come back to live happy fish. what do you do when you go away?

cheers

I use one of those pill boxes with a compartment for each day, measure out the food into it, and get someone to feed them. Is there anyone who could do that for you? Even if they were only fed three or four times duing the two weeks, that would be fine.

If you can get someone else to feed them for you, measure out the food, then hide the tubs. The last thing you want is a well meaning friend deciding you hadn't left enough food out........

Good Plan,

I'll ask one of my mates who's not coming with to pop in for me.

Auto feeders are definitely better if someone else isn't an option, although do have a look at reviews as some are much better than others.

If you cant get somebody to feed them for you then you would be better leaving them unfed for 2 weeks rather than using an auto feeder.

Most fish can easily go 2-3 weeks without food so it shouldnt be a prob depending on what fish are in the tank??

If anything goes wrong with autofeeders then you arent there to put things right. I've read stories of autofeeders dumping all the food in the tank before in one go. Also the feeder blocks really mess with the water chemistry which you dont want if you#re not there to do a water change

If you can't get anyone to feed them and you did go down the autofeeder route then I would only put enough food in for 1 week if it were me.
And if you could set it to feed them every other day then that would be even better.

Agreed :good: you can get someone even to pop over for example, you go sunday, get em to pop in wed/fri/sun/wed fri thats it,fish do not need to be fed every single day, mine got fed today and wont get fed again until tues evening maybe,
